Hey everybody! After a winter/spring that focused almost entirely on strength training, I took the plunge and joined a rowing club. After a couple years of time on the erg, I'm now taking a single out two to three times a week! I'm hoping to get on the erg for a day or two each week, but I need to find some balance in my life. :D
Lots of belief in the power of being outdoors = more happiness! Happy rowing!

The C Breeze "fan"

Post by just27 » July 3rd, 2019, 6:38 pm

Would anyone like to have a C Breeze fan? Red. Free to good home.

Back, when I used to row quite fast and aspired to post my ranked workouts (!), the C Breeze did generate a nice air-flow in my face. But, one needs to be rowing hard enough to actually work up a sweat ... and, sadly, that just doesn't happen, any more. I thought that someone here might like to try it, as it's only gathering dust and maybe spider-webs, next to our erg. Send a PM, if you want me to mail it to you.

Image Happy July 4th Independence Day here in the US!

In the winter months, Grand Lake is a really small village with perhaps 500 residents. Like a lot of mountain villages, its year round inhabitants rely on the summer visitor season for their livelihood. The summer visitors often overwhelm the streets and establishments of the village...by the thousands. One of the biggest, and certainly most iconic, Fourth of July celebrations is the Fireworks on the Lake. (Many don't know that there is a New Year's Fireworks on the Lake as well...and it's attended by far fewer people.) It will be spectacular as always.

Enjoy your holiday celebrations !

Not quite time for the Perseids meteor shower (later July and peaking mid-August) but it IS time to plan on being where you can see them...all you need is a wide patch of dark sky and a comfortable place to sit in the later hours of the night. This year's annual show will be affected by more moonlight around the 12-13 August peak, but you'll still see a bunch. My family finds that putting out air mattresses works really well... vs lawn chairs. Naturally, this is always good in case you get sleeeeeepy counting all those meteor sheep....zzzzz. Hahaha.

It was hard to miss this young hawk landing on the deck railing. What ensued was a stare down between Jesse the cat (safe behind glass) and this newly fledged morph stage red tail hawk that lasted about five minutes. The parent pair has two fledged morphs and they are learning to hunt, but not really sure where they belong. You can hear them calling to each other throughout the neighborhood.

That's a beautiful hawk, though I don't know that I'd want it perched right outside my back door, like that!
Probably not too many owls, in your neighborhood, ey? (But, a lot of bunnies looking like dinner.)
