Finally!!! After a back injury I've done my first row in a little over 8 months. So good to get just 5 minutes under my belt and as long as there's no reaction I can add rowing back to my workout regime and steadily increase time and distance! Phew!
welcome back :-}

Good reminder on the firmware updates, Warnie! All of these updates are very much dependent upon which PM monitor(s) you have - so you'll need to go the the main Concept2 page and select Monitors from the heading across the page, and go from there. It is less daunting than you might think it is...but because it is a manual operation, easy to put off. It would be nice to know what aspects of the PM monitor performance the firmware update addresses since that might provide extra incentive to get this done - so I will be asking the Concept2 gurus. I do wish that this could all be done wirelessly through the Erg Data app, but to my knowledge that just isn't possible. Yet. I keep one flash drive that is dedicated to Concept2 "stuff", and download the firmware updates to the flashdrive.

Yeah that was for the PM5 (the updates) I've listed the latest update dates for the other monitors below. I didn't have a memory stick that would work with the PM5's so I have to use the cable and mac to update but if I can do it anyone can!!

Lunie History:

Some years ago, one of our teammates was a college student named Kiba. Kiba would often complete a 100K day on her indoor rower (which is different than 100K all at once, but still !) ...her fuel of choice: pizza. She would also bestow celebratory cupcakes for those reaching 1 million meters.

Thanks for the shoutout!

Phew that was a fun workout (even if my butt fully disagree with that). That was the most workout I did by far these past 15 years and that felt awesome. Was wondering if I could do it for a while and when I saw the challenge I decided to try it out, almost gave up after 70'000m but I was too far in to stop. Don't think I'll do that again anytime soon :D .

It's the times when you almost give up but then go on to succeed that make it all worthwhile.

Congratulations on a great achievement!

I don't believe you won't be doing that again anytime soon, it's like pregnancy, many say they can never go through that again (immediately afterwards), but the body forgets (or we would all be only children) :-) :)

The exchange here between Greg F and Andrew illustrates the psychological factors that jump up at us seemingly out of NOWHERE when we're doing a distance piece on the erg. Everyone has that point where you teeter on the "I wanna quit this now" edge. And not just on the erg. On a hot, windy day on a long bike ride...you see the sag wagon up ahead, but it's going the other way...so you ride on...and you're so glad that you can genuinely claim bragging rights that YES, you finished the Whole Thing. It's the little tricks you use to get past "wanna give in" moment(s). Greg F says he was too far in at 70K (!) to stop. Andrew is the one saying yep, it's what makes it all worthwhile...

Daunting

Post by just27 » May 7th, 2019, 7:07 pm

Oh, this is so daunting. I've been opting for more ride meters, than row meters, in the past year ... so, figured I should not aspire to a rowing half-marathon. So, I checked the challenge rules and, gasp, one needs to bike 50,000 meters, for a half marathon ride. Did I say daunting?!

50K meters is daunting. But you're always up for a challenge, Minnie! Better make a good binge-watch Netflix selection.
