Congrats Dino, well done! Looks like sub 19min is in reach soon. :D
And also congrats for your 30min PB, haven't seen it before! :)
Thanks Martin!
without the help and support on this forum and the C2 challenges I would have just been drifting along. Seeing what everyone else is up to each week is definitely motivation.
Yeah, this forum is really great, very helpful advises and good motivation when seeing improvements of other members here.
Good luck for your FM! :)

Big test? 2k?
Other end of the scale... FM sometime during the upcoming challenge window!
An FM is a great challenge, and you'll be fine if you pace it properly

Got a 15.9 on a 100 meter bracket challenge today, beating my PR by .2

Unfortunately, I got it in the semi-finals, instead of the last race. Came in second, because my last effort was a 16.6. Oh well, I can still enjoy being ranked 30th for my age for another 3 days, lol.

Felt like my 60 minute PB was out of date at 15,089 so tried again yesterday and got 15,254. I wasn't really sure how it would go so didn't go crazy early on, just tried to hold sensible split.

Also saw new max HR of 188, which normally peaks at 186. I was working very hard at the end and now I'm tired today. Splits below.

Well done Alasdair, that's a big improvement. Is there no chance you could rate higher? Personally I find r27/28 to be ideal for a 60 mins session, but that might just be me.

Love that last split...going hell for leather, and proves you paced it just about perfectly

It feels a lot more natural lower rate now but the two previous ones I did were at 24/25. Recently it seems I am somehow naturally rowing at lower rates but I might give higher rate a try next time to see how it feels.

In my view, this is even more reason to rate higher. It's important to maintain a good handle on all rates. Don't get too used to a specific rate as it becomes a lot harder to change when you need to.

Like a few other elements of rowing as soon as you become too comfortable doing something, think about doing the opposite, to keep you used to different stimuli e.g. I got far too comfy doing just long distances and higher rates now I make sure I also do short sharp intervals and range from r16 - r32.

Obviously you should choose what is most suitable for you and what will give you the best chance of success but don't become cautious of difference even if you take a slight dip in performance to start with.

Yes, it's really good for some extra motivation.
I think there are some of your PBs you can "easily" crush, sub 1:30 on 500m, sub 3:15 on 1k and of course sub 6:50 on 2k are waiting :D And looking at your 30' and 60' I don't think I can beat you at 10k  sub 38 could be in reach I think.

Thanks to stu and Henry I worked (and am still working) on my rating, esp. on the longer pieces and 2k it helped me a lot to increase the rating by 2-3 SPM. Stu's input is really helpful, as always! :-)

You're very welcome Martin. I have made the mistakes so other people don't have to!!! I don't know enough about everything but what I do know I enjoy passing on to give a hand to new ergers to see them improve themselves

The Scouse does it so you won’t have to? I was envious of Michael Palin’s globetrotting. Is there an 80 day circumnavigation In your future, Stu? That would be a gobsmacker!!

And congrats to everyone in this thread currently pushing the pb envelope, from sprint to ultra distance. The journey is the destination.

A season PB for me, I know there is 1 more day but Im not rowing tomorrow and that will give me 1 day more if I need it, to get even more meters next season.
Welldone @ MartinSH4321 & Jimmyshand on your recent PB's, how about I trade you some of my longer distance times for your shorter ones?
And I will thank Stu & Henry too as my recent mantra seems to be "Rate up chimp, Row Faster", perhaps I have been spending too much time on the forum?
So the numbers you are all waiting for after my 10k today

1.5m for the season, previous best was 1.1 in 2014/15

1,500,000 SEASON METERS

Good 10k and good season there minimoof. I'm not sure I'd ever get near your current 15k but I would consider a trade!

Haha, distraction and positive affirmations are really important when you're tickling the edges of a PB / HD. I always get a wobble at circa 30 mins into a 10k too.

Nice jump in your season's metres, that will hopefully translate into more PBs
