RowPro disconnecting at online rowing screen

Post by kije » December 28th, 2018, 6:50 pm

Anyone having this problem.
Model D PM5 and Rowpro 5.2.Windows 10
All connects up ok including Wahoo Tickr HR belt and Painsled. View oarbits ok, PM5 green light and Oarbits green. I join schedule race but when I go to ‘Row on line’ I get disconnected from Oarbits - red light - No rows viewable, even Scheduled ones I make and of course no chat. Come out of ‘row-on line’, disconnect and go back to oarbits and i get reconnected.
Very frustrating. Any ideas?
Thanks

I had a similar problem. RowPro would drop me every time I tried to row in an on-line session. Rowing standalone was fine. Finally I did a total reset of my PM5 and it fixed the problem. I also re-updated my firmware on the PM5 after the total reset.

On the C2 website there are instructions on how to do a full reset. Please note that any stored data on the PM5 will be totally erased(including total meters on the erg).

Update your copy of RowPro, its now up to V5.3.3

The rowing server occasionally plays up and disconnects you, its been a bit of a problem of late.

I was also pushed into a much newer PC setup a week or so ago, it was a connectivity nightmare.

What firmware version are you running on the PM5 ? you need to keep it up to date with the latest version.

Also any graphics drivers, keep that up to date.

Windows 10 pretty much takes care of itself but I'm also always hitting " Check for Updates" before I row if I have time.

Had the same issue. Made contact with Rowpro and was advised to try tethering via my mobile phone. Apparently some network providers don’t recognise the rowpro data connection or something. Using my mobile works and uses little data. All you need do is turn on the personal hotspot on your mobile and then connect to it via the WiFi of your computer. Ensure that any updates for your computer have been downloaded before hand, otherwise you could end up with the update utilising your mobile data.
I have found however that it is necessary to also forget the router WiFi connection. If I don’t the laptop will inadvertently switch at some point to my home WiFi and drop the connection to my mobile phone. Right clicking on the WiFi setting will give you the properties for your router and forget network option.

No problems just hotspotting your mobile phone on 4G over here.

Currently its more reliable than my VDSL connection that was put in 2 weeks ago but its coming right I think.

You simply disconnect from anything you have on auto connect and switch wi-fi networks.

The RowPro server is not perfect, sometimes you don't get the green light on the bottom left because its down but you should always have no problems connecting to the monitor via the USB cable.

Had to recently replace my PC set-up as there appears to be some truth in what Pete at Digital Rowing told me, don't use a PC that was not naively installed with Windows 10 from new. My Windows 7 PC started to have problems as all the drivers cannot be updated to anything related to Windows 10. Using an old PC is a crapshoot, it works well until suddenly it doesn't.

I'm having a similar issue. I just replaced my PM3 with a PM5. My old version of Rowpro works great when I row alone connected to my PC with USB cable. Tried to row online today and got the error message that there is a problem with my connection to my rower despite the light being green and rowpro being able to detect my rower offline.

Any thoughts? PM5 is running the latest firmware 166.

Frustrating because I woke up very early to row with folks from australia.
