Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR
Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR
All C2 results should be viewed with a gain of salt. For example, there is no way to detect a "flying start". Personally, I think all "records" should only be allowable at public RACES. Otherwise, its just too easy to cheat. I could get four guys and rotate them every 500m for a Skierg 2k "record" - I bet this actually happens. No one would know and it would be "verified" by my ErgData app. Most of us couldn't fathom cheating on something so trivial but people's egos are a fickle thing - just visit https://www.marathoninvestigation.com/, you'd be shocked how commonplace cheating is across the board!

Concept 2 Rules and Regulations
Number 10
The Ranking is an honor based system. Using any methods to gain an unfair advantage or entering false or erroneous information are not allowed.
Some self-policing may be required some times, if possible.
As technology changes so will the ranking system.
Until then. We have what we have.

I disagree. I think that bogus results stick out like a sore thumb. There have been countless records challenged and disallowed over the years. Virtually all record holders have a history and body of work that support a record. You get someone submitting a time 5% or more better than their record indicates they could possibly do, it's time to seriously question the time.
BTW. Lorraine Walker is now listed as the WR holder, 30-39 F, LWT, 60 min at 15202. That is 9 out of 13 WRs for 30-39, LWt for her.

Hello all,
Luanne Suplick had entered that 60 minute as an interval time and never intended for it to be recognized as a world record. That was on Concept2. It's been removed and the correct world record is now listed.

No decision on Ms. Roebuck?

Jack,
A few of us are trying to contact Ms. Roebuck via social media. She may have given up the sport after 53,233 lifetime meters.

Ms Roebuck's records have also been removed pending any further information or proof from her regarding those records.
Also @wjschmidt2, please keep in mind that different people use the logbook in different ways. Lifetime Meters do not indicate a person's ability to set a record, or their overall interest in the sport. Sometimes, athletes only enter the meters they wish to rank, and don't take the time to enter all of their training meters rowed every day. Not saying this is the case with Ms Roebuck, but just something to keep in mind.

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR
I accept that many top OTW and erg only competitors with entries in the rankings may only encounter C2 record keeping on the occasions of C2 sanctioned indoor racing or may prefer to keep their specific training secret. Certainly no one would seriously question the “Race” stamp of verification due to the absence of supporting evidence from logged training meters.c2dena wrote: ↑April 1st, 2019, 10:17 amMs Roebuck's records have also been removed pending any further information or proof from her regarding those records.

In the case of Roebuck, the sore thumb which sticks out is not absence of use of the logbk as a training record but the extremely short period of time over which the log was used for record keeping. This is the thumbprint of a dilletante here today, gone tomorrow. To call Ms. Roebuck’s meteroric passage thru the record book cheating is a stretch but expunging the anomolous WR and close second is only fair to those who avoided allegations of irregularity in their top efforts.

Re: Questioning Luanne Suplick lightweight 60min WR
this has been quite interesting and just recently had an example of this in that a competitor at the masters games here in NZ took out all the races in his age bracket (coincedently my age bracket which is why i was interested) so 500m, 1000m, 2000m and 10000m and very convicingly. and yet i could not find a logbook for him at all.

Eric Murray may also fall in the category of little or no metres logged on the Concept 2 Website. However, his on the water accomplishments are well know. Even Steven Geary may not have been a big logger of metres on the erg but what a rower!

Ladies and gentlemen:
Learn how easy it is to implement auto-verification in your logbk.
Then use it.
Stay ahead of the curve (and the profilers).

These are the days of trying to get people removed and/or casting dispersions on those who are better than you, because they don't conform to your limited view of reality. ![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)
