Another PB last night, managed 10k in 41m 38s and also went through my 400,000 lifetime metres (now sitting at 401,900) since starting rowing again in August 2018!
Woo Hoo!
Congratulations.

David
Many thanks @David!

Have started up a friendly office rowing challenge (London to Paris in honour of our Brexit office lol). Have set a couple of new PBs since then:

10k in 41m 27s
15k 1h 03m 08s

Also now over half a million metres now!

I feel inadequate. I can barely hold 1:56 for 2000m. Here you are strolling along by while I die at my crawl pace.

Awesome time man.

Wow, just wow - that's impressive!

You must not test the shorter stuff much (500m, 1K) as with a 1:09 low pull and that kind of endurance you would crush your listed times. Only a 1 second difference in split between 1k and 2k and 10k and HM, opposite of me - I have larger gaps than normal between some of the distances. I was happy to hold in the 1:44s for my most recent 5K PB - the idea of keeping that pace for over 4 times as long is just mind blowing.

Very nice Hm, congrats.

Keith Armando hardly does shorter work, it long, long, long, relative easy at low rates. That lowpull is a long time ago.

That's what I figured when I said he must not test that much. I am just amazed by theses times for longer rows. I know Andrew Benko in my age group does these sort of times and holds most the world records for both short and long distances and I just cant comprehend it. Besides the physical demands needed, the mental ability to keep that sort of pace for that long is just amazing.

Guess its a mindset, and when you are very fit, you simply don,t get tired. Would not surpriced me I he would say it went pretty smoothly :D

Benco is a class on his own, don,t know how he trains though, think though not super long, but mostly around pretty hard 10k stuff. Speedwise he is strong, but not super, relative speaking.

Thanks all.

Most of the PBs in my signature are very outdated, especially the low pull, 100m, 500m, and 1k, which are all from my college days almost 10 years ago. Nowadays I mostly train longer distance, I rarely do any work harder than steady-state.

The HM is tough just because it goes on for seemingly forever and if you don't test that distance often it's hard to know what intensity to go out at. I definitely went out a bit too slow, but I'd rather do that than fly-and-die.

There are some truly insane times being put up for these distances by others. I'll turn 30 next month and am hoping if I find enough time to train more seriously I can challenge the C2 American record (even though it's really not the "real" record).

Old PBs: LP 1:09.9 (~2010), 100m 16.1 (~2010), 500m 1:26.7 (~2010), 1k 3:07.0 (~2010)
