Hello Team,
I missed you all. I've been off the rower since August of 2017, courtesy of two (2) right rotator cuff surgeries. The first was in February of 2018, but it didn't hold. So, November 1, 2018 I did it again. It looks like coming back will be a slow grind. I managed to stay aerobically active, but my overall strength is way down. Have any members had this surgery, and made the comeback? If so, what might I be looking at expectation wise? Thanks in advance.
Hey Will, I hope you get back on track soon. I didn't have surgeries myself but hurt my shoulder almost 3 years ago and still feel slight ache while lifting weights or rowing. Started to notice it even more with the new SkiErg.

It just takes so long to recover and I do hope people with more experience will provide more valuable and helpful comments. I'm very much interested to find out more about injury recovery myself.

I guess the best advice I can think of at the moment is go easy on it and make small, incremental overloading spread over a long period of time.

Image Day 22 of 31...and we are well and truly muddy!

At this point in the Challenge, we're not seeing double digit declines in the overall totals each day. Any slippage may well be accompanied by great regret...so close! Don't give in....we still have ONE-THIRD of the month to get through on this one!!

Thor Update

Post by Thor MW » March 22nd, 2019, 3:23 pm

Hey guys.
Well I had a good run in March. I set two new world records for the visually Impaired over 50 category. I placed third in the world sprint so a medal is on its way and I got the first 17 days of the Mud in too. Then it happened. After a nice 10 to 15 minute warmup I did a 4X500M rest 1 minute that I rather enjoy doing and was 1K in to my cool down and my lower back seized up completely. It was all I could do to get off the pony and swagger to the shower. By the next morning I couldn’t move. That was Sunday. Now 5 days later I am able to move and I’m getting there. Sorry I won’t be able to finish the old Muddy. I am now hoping I will be well enough to compete in the goal ball tournament March 30.
I also learned that me and my buddies all over 50 years of age are playing in the competitive level. This means we are going up against some of the best and youngest players Ontario has to offer. Can anyone say ouch! I wanted to play in the recreational division. In goal ball we shoot the ball under hand and the other team has to stop it with their body. Ok, I’ve seen some of these young pups shoot. It’s going to hurt. I’m hoping my back is better, why? Haha.
There’s the Mighty Thor update for now.
Keep on rock’n and roll’n my friends.

Lots of lots of icing and gentle stretching and tens shocking and just doing laps around the *** DELETE - SPAM *** table.

Whoop, whoop and way to go! Thor threw the hammer down once again and has captured the adaptive world record in the 4 min indoor rowing category. He completed 999 m during his 4 min!
Woo Hoo!!
Awesome!
Congratulations!
But now you have to do it again to get that last meter

David

When I'm better I will get that 1 and some more. Grin.
Thank you folks.

We're on our last orbit before touching down on the lunar surface!!

Image Day 9 of 32... and we're in 8th!

Lots of big team meter uploads in the last 48 hours - and we're hanging on in the 8th spot. Overall, not that many people are participating in this one in the Concept2 universe...there are a little over 3000. Considering that we draw about 20,000 for the Holiday Challenge, you have to wonder if Spring Break Fever is sweeping through the Concept2 universe. If you want to rank in the top ten percent of all individuals participating, you'll need to be at about 85K contribution level after 8 days.
