Pete Plan Thread
Re: Pete Plan Thread
well...I'm back again on the PP after fairly consistent rowing using the C2 WODs and the Interactive Sports weight loss plan. They are fine but I missed the focus on speed and progression that the PP offers so I decided to start it again (for the 3rd time).
I did session 1.1 today using the average pace I managed the last time I did this session on 1sy November last year (1:59.9)
PP 1.1 - 8 x 500m / 3min30 rest

Massive improvement Robert!! Glad to see you're back. I'm back as well, but I'm on the SkiErg now doing the BPP.

Re: Pete Plan Thread
It was awkward the first handful of times, but I'm really enjoying it now. I'm still learning, but bumping the DF up was the biggest help so far.
Well worth the purchase.

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Evening.
A first introductory post.
Ive been a runner since my mid 30's.
4 marathons. 3.43 my best in London in 2008.
Ive been sucked into the rowing just this last month, and Im just starting to set some initial benchmarks to build from, which according to the rankings arent too shabby.
Having done the long runs, the mindset for the hour row is already there.
Im stuck up in the Hebrides 3 weeks out of 4, so the gym keeps me occupied and happy 6 days a week.
NOTHING is open on the Sabbath !
Is tension on the cable for the full pull a big part of efficiency ?
I found tonight this meant I could drop the stroke rate but maintain the 2.00 split I was after.
Anyway,
Cheers.
Hope Im still on here for many years to come.
Steve.

Re: Pete Plan Thread
My experience is definitely the same with chain tension. Being able to get the handle close to the front of the machine seems to improve upon that tension advantage and make a stroke "stronger" with the same energy input.Steven Grieve wrote: ↑February 28th, 2019, 8:04 pmEvening.

Targeting a faster spm based on feedback from those with experience on the SkiErg. Target pace was 2:05.5 per BPP, but I will push harder on all sprints. Additionally, I'll push a little bit on the steady state pieces for another week or 2 to take into account the newbie gains.

BPP 7.3 is 8000m. Done at 2:17 R20 with my heart rate capped at 145. I'm starting to enjoy these longer, easier rows.

Re: Pete Plan Thread
BPP 3.3 - 6000m, r20, UT1
Will probably need to back off the pace on these longer rows in the coming weeks to stay in UT1/UT2. This one was iffy in the 2nd half as my HR crept into AT. I do add a 45 minute strict UT2 session the day before my interval set each week for a bit of aerobic base training.
Time Meters Pace Watts S/M HR
25:31.5 6,000m 2:07.6 168 20 157
4:15.3 1,000m 2:07.6 168 20 154
4:15.1 2,000m 2:07.5 169 20 151
4:16.3 3,000m 2:08.1 166 20 154
4:20.0 4,000m 2:10.0 159 20 157
4:21.8 5,000m 2:10.9 156 21 156
4:03.0 6,000m 2:01.5 195 23 171
Goals:
1. build aerobic base
2. body recomp - bit of fat left around the middle
3. work towards sub 7:30 2K and sub 20' 5K
