Very much agree.Tombeur wrote: ↑March 1st, 2019, 10:42 amOne of my sons was a competitive swimmer. From the time he was small, his coaches always emphasized “personal best.” As someone who is short and about to turn 77, I have no other choice—that is, to the extent I even think about all these numbers. The pace and distance are there to see if you want. Why hypernumerate? After all, we do all this work to relieve stress, not enhance it.
It's nice to see how you are doing maybe, especially if your are competitive, but your personal best is much more important.
Even more important is the last line "we do all this work to relieve stress, not enhance it".

Welcome aboard!davidrbest wrote: ↑March 1st, 2019, 5:28 pmHi team!
I joined the team earlier this week and wanted to introduce myself. I've had my Concept2 Model D for a little over 8 years. My logbook shows lifetime meters at about 700k meters. I have logged 210k of those in the past six weeks. I loved the thing when I got it, but I stopped rowing - I'm not sure why. I think I tried to push myself too far, too fast. With age, I think I've finally understand the meaning of the saying "Slow and steady wins the race."
I'm looking forward to contributing to the team.

Woohoo! Welcome back to Norton! There were some big meter swings a couple of days ago, and I lost sight of the motorcycle that zoomed by...just under the radar. See him now though!
We're on the plus side of 0 this AM here in the Denver area! Doesn't mean we're out of Frostbite Falls range, but the prospect of greater than 20 F for a high brings a smile...the pups might get a walk today. Less than 20 F and I'm out there with a balaclava (the face and neck shield from shiver me timbers and cause frostbite temperatures) - after I have determined that a baklava (the puff pastry thing) is the more edible of the two. I know. Goofy. But the words balaclava and baklava are not that different!
Day 5 of 31...
10K a day = 36 Lunies! 4,463 participants overall - overall participants up 17 percent from yesterday... no change in number of Lunies at 10K
5K a day = 59 Lunies! 11,245 participants overall - overall participants also up 17 percent from yesterday...up 4 Lunies from yesterday!
Where's the Winner Winner list?! Perhaps Concept2 will start rolling it out today? And history being history, March 5th has been a day chosen several times in the past as one of the 10K drawing choices....just sayin' - there could be extra opportunity here! Meanwhile, the Lunies are thundering along with their ergs! LOTS of participation happening!

Day 6 of 31...
Concept2's posted the winners list, accessible from the Challenge page...no Lunie winners just yet! There is still time!

Getting close to the "jump in the pool" deadline if you're planning on completing the 25 days of the Challenge! C'mon in - you'll be in fine company! Great to see so many Lunies giving it a go - I think Dennis must get his meters completed at like 5 AM or something - he's already earned the day's requisite meters!
10K a day = 38 Lunies! 5,025 participants overall - overall participants up 12 percent from yesterday... up 2 Lunies from yesterday!
5K a day = 64 Lunies! 12,572 participants overall - overall participants also up 11 percent from yesterday...up 5 Lunies from yesterday!

Re: All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.5.19
Lordy. This was not a stellar effort! Extra shamrocks...floating pots of gold...missing names! All because I went back and added graphics later...not realizing that the graphic was erasing names, etc. Fortunately, others did notice and I can fix this...with the caveat that it might not be a final edit! Hahahaha! Really, I was awake and not under any influence...Kona2 wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 11:11 amDay 6 of 31...

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.06.19
What'ya mean you're not a sprinter?!
Concept2's posting: The Indoor Sprints are an exciting joint initiative between Concept2 and World Rowing. To take part, all you have to do is row 1000 meters on the Concept2 Indoor Rower (Model A–E indoor rowers only, no Dynamic or indoor rowers on Slides) at any point between March 6-10 and post your time to the Concept2 Online Logbook.
The results are then compiled into worldwide leaderboards, so you can see how you compare with people from across the world. For many people, this is a good annual snapshot of their fitness and standing. Last year, over 5300 people took part from 66 separate countries.
You can participate on your own or in an organized event. If you’re participating on your own, you need to enter your time directly into the Online Logbook by 12 p.m. GMT Tuesday, March 12. You can submit as many eligible 1000 m times as you want, and your fastest will automatically be the one to count.
Ed's 50K session, a 1000 m challenge with co-workers, would have qualified for the segment that gets at least 20 participants involved! "If you submit 20 or more individual results from an event held by your club or team, you'll be entered in a raffle for a new indoor rower for your facility. There will also be a separate raffle for events held in World Rowing development countries where there are 10 or more competitors."
We've had quite a bit of discussion about rankings, and the quest for your personal best whether by ski, bike or indoor rower. Think about giving the 1000 m sprint a go in the next couple of days...even if you're not a sprinter!
Day 7 of 31...are we there yet?!
Yes, today is the day that the Erging Universe teeters in the March Challenge...there will be a brief uptick in numbers of participants, and then....the "ski slope" of those still in the hunt for the 25 days begins its slide. This is an early Lunie graph of 5K participants in the whole Erging Universe - not showing Lunie participants as a separate entity - from back in 2010. No matter what the year, the patterns play out. But not for the Lunies! We resist the slide into oblivion! No one wants to give up or give in! But sometimes... it happens. Watch this space.
10K a day = 40 Lunies! 5,504 participants overall - overall participants up 9 percent from yesterday... up 2 Lunies from yesterday!
5K a day = 64 Lunies! 13,598 participants overall - overall participants up 8 percent from yesterday...number of Lunies unchanged from yesterday!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Thanks, again, Kona2 for compiling all that info. It makes the challenge even more fun.
I've done 7 out of 7 days now. I'm both proud of my progress and a bit embarrassed to be motivated by promise of some swag!
Either way as long as it keeps me going it's all good.

Lucky Sevens To The Max !!
It's always good to keep an eye on your lifetime totals - you only get a chance at a palindrome like this once every orbit or so!! Well done, David A!
lifetime meters palindrome!!!
This lifetime palindrome occurred in conjunction with his yearly total palindrome of 3,386,833 m ....that's some planning...
And...it occurred on the 7th....play twilight zone music....

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.07.19
How's this working out for you?!
Almost all of my meters this season are on the bike erg, yet I wanted to give the 1000 m indoor sprint a go (especially after suggesting that we all should do so...). Epic fail after starting out waaay too fast yesterday, so I'll be giving it another try...slower. After all, it's better when you're not gasping for air....

Back after a long absence
Good Morning Luna-Tics,
I've been off of my rowing machine and the forum for YEARS due to some family issues which took us from GA to NY where we are now, coupled with a few knee and shoulder surgeries. But I've got my rowing machine back in my life and all of my limbs are working as intended so we are getting reacquainted.
I've missed reading your posts and participating in challenges. So, it's good to be back and to see familiar faces in the posts.
I made March 1st my day for a fresh start and UGH my muscles are protesting. Where I used to be able to row a half-marathon in one sitting I find myself winded after 5 minutes of continual rowing, so needless to say it's going to be a gradual progression to get back into it. But I find that I love it nonetheless!
I look forward to being a part of the Luna-Tics again. I couldn't get back into the forum with my old saved user name so where I used to be seen as Jodi, I'm now Grammyof5. Same me, just older and with a few more grandchildren than I had before.

Welcome back, Jodi - I had you pegged at the GA to NY!
