Apple TV: anyone making a app for it?
Apple TV: anyone making a app for it?
I would think this would be a elegant solution. Apple TV has Bluetooth. So couldn't it hook up to PM5. Then you fire up the app on Apple TV and you would have it up on your big HDTV. RowPro should be working in this.

If you're displaying the app on your mac, can't you AirPlay that display to your AppleTV?

Can someone confirm if this is possible?Joebarbs wrote:I would think this would be a elegant solution. Apple TV has Bluetooth. So couldn't it hook up to PM5. Then you fire up the app on Apple TV and you would have it up on your big HDTV. RowPro should be working in this.

This would really be fantastic!!! The way via AirPlay is too slow and also too complicated. AppleTV would be THE device for all rowers. I have anyway sometimes difficulties to understand why it takes ages for developers to come up with such solutions...
So, is anybody working on this?

RowPro are already working on this, its called the Android version, many new smart TV's are Android. This is far more popular as it pulls in most of the smart phones as well which is the way its all going in the future. You can also just screen mirror these kind of devices to your big screen TV. I'm really hoping the RowPro App will just run on the Sony TV and use the Bluetooth to directly connect to the likes of a PM5 in the future, at which point the separate Windows 10 PC can be removed along with the USB cables. This will be an extremely clean setup with just the rowers and a TV on the wall allowing the possibility of wheeling out a rower outside in summer that is still within Bluetooth range. The problem is the added unreliability of yet another wireless link and the existing two (ANT+ to HR strap and Wi-Fi to the internet) give me enough trouble as it is.Joebarbs wrote:I would think this would be a elegant solution. I expect the number of people using RowPro will jump sharply with the introduction of the Android and iOS versions, but they need to do it right with a "Lite" version and it needs to be online rowing only.

Re: Apple TV: anyone making a app for it?
I think most of people own a mobile device than a smart TV or an apple TV.
Developing specific apps on these TVs or Apple TV would be a small market compared to mobile ones.
I don't find airplay is slow or complicated... I use this solution for a long time and pairing your phone with the apple TV is no more complicated than pairing a evice and a PM5 !
Seriously, you should give it a go !

This would actually make a lot of sense. Native Apple TV app, just like Zwift. Hopefully they will just add native rowing capability soon
Re: Apple TV: anyone making a app for it?
I run Ergdata on my iPhone and mirror it via my Apple TV to a big screen ... it works...is that near enough?

Not that useful to me to see just a bigger old school dashboard. Point of a big screen is to run simulations like Zwift or a better RowPro.
