Blwyddyn newydd dda i chi hefyd, Miles! (cheated with Google Translate)
I wasn't planning on doing a January challenge other than the Team Challenge, but your post pushed me over the edge, although not all the way into The Big Burn territory. I decided on The Haul (15 hours).

Google is learning! Ardderchog/Excellent!

My first choice was 15 hours but I did an hour ride this morning and that gave me 878 calories so I reckon around 20 hours and you won't be far off the 20k calories target lol I have 11 Zwift rides in January and all should be 1 hour or over so I will hopefully do it!! fun trying!

I'm joining you on The Haul. That looks like a do-able goal, considering January's calendar ... though, The Long Haul might be a motivational reach, worthy of NY resolve!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 1.1.19

Post by Kona2 » January 2nd, 2019, 11:18 pm

Image January...rushed in with a blast of arctic air....

Five of the top 13 teams in the January VIRTUAL team challenge are on the water rowing clubs. That's a big increase - and demonstrates the role that the erg plays in the training for on the water teams. Karyn has spoken about that before. For those who find themselves in their first January Virtual Team Challenge, it's perhaps important to note that the first two weeks of the Challenge are very chaotic as teams build their rosters. The last two weeks (once the teams are locked in place on 16 January), are when it gets serious. I kid you not. Pace your anxieties if you have them!

The January VIrtual Team Rankings are changing faster than I can keep up with them right now. Perhaps it is like the suddenly full parking lots at the gyms around the world? Ever notice that even when the gym is full that our beloved ergs are often available?! This, too, is changing as more and more people get the erg addiction going. Hang on...perhaps I'm having an elitist exercise moment here?! Egad. We need more teammates on the Virtual Team! Sign on...sign on....sign on!

An aside:

I love the holidays. And I love when they are over, because I also like my routine. Apparently, the two Goldens aka Thing 1 and Thing 2 like their routine, too. Arctic air...and temperatures hovering below 10 degrees...whoa. No walks in that. So, when I beamed up the garage door to head out today, dog on leash....and we stopped at the truck to get in....nooooo. Oh yes, a vet visit for a wellness check. This is not ever easy. We survived it, and emerged with a scarf from the Vet's Office tied around Kai's neck. Flash forward to arrival back at the house, where the other dog pouted... having not been the beneficiary of what seemed like a really LONG walk, and that pink scarf was flying about like the cape to the bull from the matador. Walks for each ensued. The scarf did not survive the chase around the tree..I could hear the dog thoughts...."let me chew that off your neck...." Pets are very entertaining.

It's the Haul for me, too.

Even better, however, is my lifetime total - 4 pair:

77002211

(I usually row for a set time, not distance, so it was just a fun accident.)
