With normal rowing the grip is the one with the palms facing down on the handle.

Well is there and advantages of mixing the way you grip the handle, say with palms up and with palms down?

Sorry if it`s a silly question and thanks for any replies.

I think if your goal is to be a better rower (speed and endurance) the palms up rowing is a waste of time. As I have heard, row hard and row well.

When I go to the gym and I see some clueless person on the erg "rowing" with the palms up because "my trainer told me it works the biceps this way" . ... I want to slap them.

Seriously, go do some curls.

But I digress, no don't erg with the palms up. It's a complete waste of time, and you'll look more than silly.
