Duplicate numbers

I've noticed that each time that I try a 100m piece for a PR, if I try a second time at the same distance a few minutes later, the system logs the exact same time and pace for the second effort. I thought it was an odd coincidence at first, but it has happened all three times that I tried it. Any explanation or fix? I have a PM5 with the latest firmware (I presume, last update a couple months ago). I use ErgData to record. With the latest effort, it was odd that I actually had three different numbers for the 100m time, on the live ErgData screen, on the live PM5, then another on the ErgData log and PM5 memory/logbook. The one logged and in memory is the one identical to the first effort, though the other two times were both better than the first by about .3 -.5 sec.

Then again, pulling up the graphs side by side, they look different, so at least that part isn't duplicated. Odd that I'd be that consistent though, down to a tenth of a second, three times. Still doesn't explain the different screen numbers, up to .5 faster than in the final log.

What times are you getting? You're probably on the limit of what the PM can read. Combine that with the weird rounding rules and what you've seen is "normal".

These were the times for the 100m pieces:
July 3 0:18.8 twice
July 25 0:18.3 twice
Dec 19 0:17.5 twice -- This is the number recorded in the log. But before changing screens, at the end of the 2nd piece ErgData showed 17.0 and I think the PM5 showed 17.3. So I thought it was odd that it recorded neither of those, but rather the exact same number as the log from the 1st piece.

Can you recreate the error?

If you can, write it up and send and email to rowing@concept2.com. They'll need to know whether you're running the Android or iPhone version, wether Ergdata is up to date and the firmware version on your PM5.
