Well traveling certainly hinders ones ability to add meters to the challenge, but I was pretty happy to have found a newer concept 2 pm5 sitting all alone not being used up here in Northern Minnesota, so I had couple hours tops to get a work out in before being whisked out and back on the family visiting tour. I don’t know about you guys but a few days away from the rower makes me a little cranky. I hope to be back on the home erg soon and thanks to today’s erg visit I am at least within striking distance of 200 k. Happy rowing to you all.
Rowing machine time is often a good antidote to many things...and you are indeed within striking distance of 200K...have time to make it to 300K !

When I rowed crew with a masters rowing club coaches did not want the rowers to wear gloves. The reason they gave was gloves hindered being able to tell when the oar was seated in the oarlock. Blisters were part and parcel of the game till the calouses formed. I'll never forget the "ejector crab" one of my teammates suffered not having her blade square. It was right in front of a packed restaurant. I was rowing starboard in the 3 seat, she was in the bow #1 seat. We were rowng full pressure and all of a sudden this head appears in the murky waters of the Black Warrior River between the oars od the 5 & 7 seat.....
Yikes...and from video I've seen, ejection happens rather quickly...sort of like watching a cartwheel....

Image Day 24 of 33...

Image ImageImage

Image Caerphilly Castle

Image Another episode....

Missed a reindeer claiming by Miles the other day, and only noticed the omission this AM. Miles lives in Caerphilly, a city in Wales that has a large castle appropriately named Caerphilly Castle as one of its main historic attractions. The concentric design of the castle was new to the UK at the time, and made for successful defense. The castle was built at the direction of Gilbert the Red, and we've never had a reindeer named Gilbert the Red, so you can see what happened here. Caerphilly is also known for creating a regional cheese. Caerphilly is the name of a crumbly white cheese, one that apparently has a bit of a tang. Coal miners would take the cheese as their meal down into the mining pits where it held up well and was easy to consume. The cheese used to be manufactured in Caerphilly, but its popularity and probably more than a few other factors have led to its production elsewhere. And now we know more than we did.

Loving the Caerphilly history - nice one!! I saw the castle and said "what?"!!! I live 5 minutes away from the castle, some people think I live "IN" the castle!!! Cheese was a huge industry for Caerphilly and there's a lot of confusion as to where it is made! Some say it is still made in the town but I don't agree - it gets brought in!!! Lovely post :D

🚲 designates when the meters are all bike meters. When a teammate uses multiple types of erg, most of the time there's not a way to quickly tell what percentage of meters is one thing or another - so I don't try. We have 9 teammates with bike ergs, 5 with ski ergs (although I am pretty sure that Steve W is the only one with ski erg holiday challenge meters), and the rest have or use indoor rowers. I was curious about what percentage of the Concept2 universe uses bike ergs - and in the top eleven teams, there are 95 people who use bike ergs....which is 4.7 percent of the total people. They contribute about 7 percent of the meters overall when bike meter = indoor meter, and 3.5 percent when bike meters are halved.

I'm lucky enough to have all three in my house but as I'm nursing my back to full health I can only use the bike - can't wait to get back to rower and skierg!!
