Well done Bishop, that's a big increase in a short space of time and it's got improvement written all over it. Keep on pushing and you'll be sub 40 mins soon enough.Bishop007 wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2018, 6:00 amI have now had my rower one month, and I am quite happy with my effort, I have had 20 rows and a total of 182k so fare.
As previous stated my goal is to get sub 7 for 2k. I still got a long way to go. But yesterday I did some kind of a record attempt on a 10k session. some kind, because the row was started as a “just row” effort. But I felt good during the fist couple of minutes and just decided to see if I could keep going.
Attached is two rows, one from yesterday, and also a similar one from 08.11.2019, and interesting enough the heart rate and stroke rate was quite similar, but the wats has improved.
Anyway I just wanted to share my improvement

Great going Hobbit. You have got it in you to go sub 1:35, but regardless you should enjoy your effort on this HM.hobbit wrote: ↑November 28th, 2018, 4:44 pmNew PB for HM! 1:36:55 @2:18 24spm. That's three and a half minutes better than my previous try - that's the nice thing about being a beginner - you can knock big chunks off your PBs. Still, I reckon that I can get under 1:35 next time, if I can toughen up my buttocks .

I don't think your pacing was bad, maybe a bit of a sprint for the last 200m would have been good but it bodes well for a 2k as you maintain a strong constant wattage, stroke rate and pace.jimmyshand wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2018, 1:35 pmNo real plan today so I decided to test my fitness with a fast 1k after a 2k warm up. Managed a 1k PB by best part of a second. Effort not quite 100% and pacing was bad but I was just winging it really. The good thing is that this tells me there is a bit more in the tank and also that I should probably try another 2k because I haven't really gone for it since April when I broke 7 minutes for the only time ever. The higher rating here seemed to help and drag factor was 119. 7k SS after to get some metres in.

@jimmy - try some shorter efforts and find out what your 1min, 500m is like. You're a larger lad so should be able to pull some decent numbers and it'll put in context your 1K and show you what potential you'll have. Well done for PBing.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Wasn't sure what workout I wanted to do last night, so I warmed up with a 2K with some bursts and was thinking I would do an interval workout but then for no real reason decided to do a 1K test as I was feeling decent. Beat my previous best from October by almost 2 seconds and inched closer to a sub 3:00 with a time of 3:01.8. Wasn't going to post my 1K PR until I went under 3:00 but this moved me back ahead of Andrew in the rankings so now when he reads this he can go beat this time.
On a side note, I do most my test at home but did this at my gym on a rower that the gym just got but it obviously is either used or has sat in a box for many years as the date on the screen was February, 2012! Due to this the verification code didn't work, sent an e-mail to Concept2 with a screenshot to see if that can be used to verify the row. I never realized the date could be so far off on the monitor.

Thanks HJS! - One odd thing, I used a little more drag this time (150 vs 130) yet my SPM was a little higher (37 compared to 35) - figured it would be the opposite.hjs wrote: ↑December 6th, 2018, 12:13 pmGreat stuff, no matter what date, you pulled itKeithT wrote: ↑December 6th, 2018, 11:24 amWasn't sure what workout I wanted to do last night, so I warmed up with a 2K with some bursts and was thinking I would do an interval workout but then for no real reason decided to do a 1K test as I was feeling decent. Manny think that, but high drag goes with higher rates. Short pieces often get better with more drag. More drag slows the fan down more, so you need a bit less strokespeed. The fan slows down faster also.KeithT wrote: ↑December 6th, 2018, 12:25 pmThanks HJS! Marius, congratulations for your continued successes and PB's.
I'm curious why you capped to 40spm, unless you feel that it's (or you want it to be) your optimum rate for that time.

New PB for 10k! 35 seconds knocked off my previous best. After 3 consecutive days of 10k UT2, steady paddling for the holiday challenge, I felt like doing something nippy. So, what the heck, try a fast 10k. And it worked well. Concentrated all the way and no danger of an HD incident. Helped along by the funky music of the Talking Heads.
