Did a 2k today with a plan to just dip below 6:30 as I’m doing only sprint training now. Had a bit more left than I thought. A couple of stops around the 4 minute mark as well as I have a sore throat and running nose, so needed to really motivate myself to finish..
Well..it ended in a new WR(and same as my row pb) Gives me a nice starting point when I start the 2k training in end of November.

90% effort at best, look at what you had left.. B)
30kg muscle... only possible if you use all the peds possible. Lean bmi above 26/27 is max possible, with your height 100kg ok ish lean is about max.
Ps cruel you only let the man keep that record so so shortly  but he might go again, his pacing was pretty poor, but again you could pull 6.10/12 if you go seriously :D
Hehe..not 30kg of muscle either. I have held 130kg+ before so my frame can support it. Not saying I had a sixpack but not a fattie either

It was not the purpose to get the WR yesterday so I feel a bit bad taking it.. :( Hope he gets his certificate. My previous PB was 6:34.4.
My target is now sub 6:10 for the 2K, I would think that is possible with some longer interval training. Most of my intervals has been 250m the last months so it is painful to go longer distances. That's why my rating are pretty low for this 2k, had to keep it low to survive

@dangerscouse - Yes, but it was a really tough one. Had to stop a couple of times, but managed to talk myself in to continuing. Feels worse today  Hopefully it will be better after a few cups of hot green tea :D
Now I can start working my way down to a sub 6:10 2K

In general, the skierg results are still relative young, if a guy who has the potential to pull 5.40 on the rower, would put that same effort in the skierg........ at first I did nit think the skierg could match the rower in times, but now begin to doubt that. You seem to be faster on the skierg...
I hope we will see many new strong guys on the skierg, it would help with the motivation to continue pushing hard.
I seem to be faster on the skierg, I agree, BUT almost all my PB's on the rower where done 6-8 months after I started rowing. There is more potential on the rower, I have some good interval sessions late 2017 that is matching(or better) than my latest skierg intervals.

Hjs- I was not talking about 30kgs of fat  Not sure how strong Dan really is but I haven’t been scared of the weights he posts on insta.
Your watts per weight are likely much higher, and therefore much better.

I know your rowing also has more potential, maybe you should alter your way of training a bit, for rowing, you simply seem to react very well to your current regiem.

That other guy also has more potential, crossfitter, who does the rower/ski on the side and talked about sub6

Anyway, enjoy, c2 should start maybe start races for the ski and bike, that could help for extra people.

I'm doing a lot more HIIT on the Skierg than I did on the rower and it seems to suit me well(on the skierg at least) :)

Regarding sub 6 at an age of 45..not many can do that, but possible of course. That being said, everyone can talk the talk, but can they walk the walk as well
For my part I think 6:10 is a realistic target for the 2K. Once I get there I will look for new targets.
It would be nice to have competitions on the skierg to bring more people into the game.

Blew out some steam yesterday to beat Phils time on 5x250m/1:00r of 3.23.2(pace 1:21.2). Still not 100% fresh so pretty happy with this one.

Certainly sub6 is very far from his current level, but I looked at his training and pacing, all over the place, lots of room to do better.

Think you could pull 6.10 already, and it will surprice me if you didn,t. You pull those low splits so easily.
Do you only ski/row? Or also weights atm?

hjs - No weight training, don't remember last time I did a full weight workout  Have just tested the strength a couple of times.
It's just ski with an occasional steady state row. Low pull for the skierg is now 1:11, not exceptional but plenty for everything above 1 minute

Marius,

How many strokes does it take you to reach max low pull on the skierg, and how many attempts do you make?

It used to take me 7 strokes (10 seconds) on the rowerg, and I'm not sure yet for the skierg.

Doing the fast work as you do is maybe plenty for your strenght.

Your strongpoint, like I see it from a distance, is your anaerobic power.

For lowpull I would look at watts, every extra second now is a serious Chuck in watts.

I reach max between 5-7 strokes. I test low pull as a part of a 5-7x100m/1:00r workout. I usually do it in interval 2-3 as I need 1-2 hard intervals before I'm able to really max out(even though I warm up properly at different speeds/rates)

For the lowpull I'm downloading stroke data and go through it to see if anything has improved. I now the PM5 screen is not accurate enough :)
Hopefully my aerobic performance will increase a bit once I start training for the longer distances. 2K is a bit too long right now

Yes, you are pretty poor at 2k  think more a matter of being used to short stuff, 6 min is a long time than.

Re pm and ergdata, ergdata gives not exactly the same, top watts are a bit lower looking at ergdata compared to the pm5.

Difference between rower and ski is mostly the firstpull, which on the ski is a good bit slower. After that, apart from rating, not so much difference. Maxpace around the 7th stroke.

OK, getting the feel for this now (+5m over the last go earlier this week) and am only seeing 1:2x once I get the fan up to speed. First pull was 2:03 so work to be done there, DF was 134 and LP IIRC was only 1:26. So, more to come I think if I feel good. 350m would be awesome. This also gives me confidence I could smash my previous 500m effort of 1:32.1 to smithereens, but curiously I don't think I'd be THAT much faster (than below) over 100m so that's quite telling...

Erg on!
