Tunturi performance R50 versus concept2 model E
Tunturi performance R50 versus concept2 model E
Hello!
I'm new to indoor rower world and would like to hear experts opinion on comparing Tunturi performance R50 versus Concept2 model E in order to decide which one to buy. My needs are:
- Suitable for beginner
- Silent: isn't the magnetic brake system more silent?
- Not really in need advanced training plans
Thank you for anyone that will advise me!

Are you serious?
You've asked on a Concept2 funded, Concept2 hosted, Concept2 specific forum about a Brand-X rower and you're expecting a serious, unbiased reply.
You won't get that.

Citroen's right. Given that, if the Turnturi were even close to the C2 (which it's not) you'd still get a biased view. If you want a machine for the long term whether for training or just exercise, get the C2.
Mark Underwood. Rower first, cyclist too.

Re: Tunturi performance R50 versus concept2 model E
Before I bought my Model D I had a Tunturi rower.... (not the R50)
To be honest, they are not awful, and for the money it was a reasonable bit of kit... however, it was nowhere near as good as the Concept2, and as soon as I could afford to, I switched.
I’ve looked at the Tunturi website, and an R50 is the same price as the Concept2,so I can’t see why you wouldn’t buy a Concept2

It's what we need now or later that counts, in a rowing machine, not what we don't. So best find out how it works first, i.e. where the numbers on screen come from and how. Otherwise you may be looking at arbitrary data. You can stick to subjectives like HR or PE of course, in which case a few hills are all you need, but a machine can provide a lot more if there's some engineering in its sums.
It's that "more" that helps make the C2 addictive, and useful.

Why specifically do you want the the Model E ?
Its not in your list of "Wants" so personally I would get the Model D.

The Model E is heavier, is 6 inches higher off the ground, and costs about 200 USD more than the Model D. An advantage of the Model D is that the monitor arm can be folded for storage. The monitor arm of the Model E, while being a bit longer, is in a fixed position. Both machines will provide the exact same workout.Carl Watts wrote: ↑October 15th, 2018, 4:13 pmWhy specifically do you want the the Model E ?

Unless the higher seat of the Model E makes it considerably easier to get on and off the machine, I agree that the Model D is the machine to buy.
