New 500m PB for me today... 1:43.0

I knew my old one was a bit soft (based on Concept 2 rankings), but was hoping for a bit more than this.

Splits were:

Split. Time. Avg pace. Spm. HR
100. 20.3. 1:41.7. 35. 129
100. 20.4. 1:42.0. 29. 149
100. 20.4. 1:42.2. 35. 157
100. 20.8. 1:44.0. 32. 160
100. 21.3. 1:46.3. 34. 163

A very pronounced fade at the end!… but it’s still a PB!

Congratulations on the new personal best!

Your times are similar to mine. One difference in the 500 M is that your SPM is relatively relaxed. Can you do the whole thing at >35 SPM? It might take a second or two off your time. (I note that your heart rate is getting up to 163, so you are clearly working hard.)

Best wishes,

Scott

Well done Jon, with more training the fade will disappear.

Thanks Scott, that second 100m at 29spm was partly deliberate - to try and pace myself, but also because I felt as though my rower was slipping on the mat... I definitely think I could do the lot at 35spm, and will try that next time..

Today I had a go at my 1k PB, and took it down to 3:44.3! This felt like a controlled effort, rather than an all out thrash, and I suspect there's probably a couple of seconds more I could take out next time I have a go...

10k PB today, 39:46. 1.59.3 500m split. Pretty chuffed with that as it had been a pretty heavy week.

First try at a 5km PB today and I ended up with 22:28, I was hoping for under 22. I had more in the tank but being the first attempt wasn't sure how hard to go. I've been using the rower weekdays for the last 3 weeks for 20 minutes in the morning, alternating between slow cadence high power, and high cadence intervals. I'm 48 and 93kgs, if that makes a difference.
Second try at a 5km PB today, finished at 21:28, a full minute off last weeks time. Getting under 21 might take a few weeks...

@hjs - Thanks, never had a 500m TT feel that good and "easy". Last 500m TT for a long while, want to keep that good feeling and now start training properly for 1K and 4 min TT.
@Dangerscouse - Thanks :) Not a machine yet, I still sometimes bleed when I cut myself

Hahahahahaha. Having tried to skierg about 18 months ago, and enjoying it, but realising that i wasn't good at it I sort of know what it takes, albeit I never in a million years would come close to these times.

I found it harder than the rower but that might have changed if I persevered
