PM5 and new owner question

Post by zapdafish » August 29th, 2018, 11:51 am

50 yrs old with a bit of a stomach. About 40lbs overweight.

Ordered the D and put it together yesterday and started copying what I saw on youtube. Problem is they all have flat stomachs so have no problems grabbing the handle even when showing a beginner how to row to lose weight :D. My legs are also very tight from sitting all day so when I sit down I can barely reach the straps for my shoes and grab the handle. How the heck am I supposed to reach the PM5. There is no freakin way for me to reach it

Been working on flexibility for about a week now so not gonna be able to reach it for quite awhile.

Started off and I thought it was pretty easy but after 5 mins I def could feel it. Think I am really going to enjoy this as I was able to do it while watching TV.

1. If you just pull the handle the PM5 will start a "just row" workout automatically.
2. If you program it (with any sort of workout), you've got four minutes from pressing the "start" button before it times out. It won't start the program until you start rowing.
3. If you use Ergdata with your phone you don't need to reach the PM5 to see the numbers.

set the PM with your session before you put your feet into the toe pieces. I had that problem as well... not so much now :D

Don't pick up any bad habits, and be sure you get your technique right. C2 has several videos to help with this:

Be sure to check out the "common errors" video too.

Good luck - if you keep at it I can guarantee with 100% certainty that by the end of the year you will be in noticeably better shape.

You also could do with stretching your hip flexors and hamstrings etc. Erging will only make them tighter which does have a whole host of issues.

A foam roller or similar will be a big help. Use it every day on your hip flexors

Ok a couple of things...
1. Set the monitor up for your session first. It will start when you start rowing.
2. Check your foot position. The ball of your foot should be where the strap is. (check the C2 Blog where they explain this in detail)
3. Do some stretching both before and after your workout. Again in the Blog section you will find some stretching suggestions.

I have had the same issues being short 5'9" and was 285lbs 10 months ago... now 227lbs. The weight will come down just take your time and do not overdo it. i currently do 5 days/week in 30-60 minute sessions. I started with 5k sessions every other day. Most sessions for me are now are 10k and they take me about 45-47 minutes.
