:lol: Today will be the day - combined with a weights workout - hope I don't fry my legs. Been practicing with short rides just to get the lay of the land a little bit.
looking forward to hearing how it goes :}

So far, so good. About 40 min with weights/abs, then I broke up the ride into 3 segments (3*3737=11211, on 8/18/18, hmmm could have picked a better total for this date, but I'm pretty sure Ron will make a better pick). I thought breaking it up with short stretches would be a good idea while getting used to the seat and everything. It went much better than expected. Negative splits, and no fried chicken legs.

Gutted, going so well with the challenge and have picked up a back injury last Monday so not been able to do anything since. Back is getting better but not sure it will be ok for me to get the 30k in by the 21st. Oh well.

Tipping over the midway point of week 3....get it done...get it done...get it done! (And TEN Lunies have)

There was the most spectacular thunderstorm here yesterday evening! It was positively Frankensteinian with lots of crashes and bangs...and a few zots (if you remember the comic strip BC...zot was the action attributed to both the anteater and lightning).

Always a bummer when injury interrupts our respective worlds - hope you are back in the erg saddle soon, Miles. There are many Concept2 Challenges to go in this 2019 erging season!

Welcome to new teammate Cornel, and welcome back to Patrick H (the Maryland Patrick H)! I see that Patrick has picked up a bike erg! Always good to see new and returning teammates!

Hi, Luna-Tics! I just joined (I think, and ifn y'all will have me).

I've been rowing since 2010 if memory serves. Haven't rowed much for a while, but started back up for Dog Days. For some reason, I started doing my "distance" rows on Just Row, and with a harder pull and lower stroke rate (around 15) than I used to. That seems to help me concentrate on form, and take a short rest per stroke to straighten my back. Seems to bother my lower back less than the way I used to row.

To the moon, Alice!

We welcome all teammates - but I am not sure you're on our roster yet either...unless you are Cornel. To join, you have to go into your profile and change the affiliation to Luna-Tics. There is also a team joining, but that's usually for Challenges. We have several folks who will erg with us during a Challenge because their affiliation isn't participating...but they want to stay with their affiliation. So take a look at your profile and see what it says. I like the Mathineer bit...you'll probably do some palindromes and Fibonacci sequences or something....it's all good.

Week 3....uff da! Who let the dogs out....

We can now officially welcome Mathineer Kevin K to our team! That team vs affiliation (it is sometimes an affliction too) differentiation is a bit tough to navigate, but you clearly found your way through astrogation to our Luna-Tics team...and now you're headed to the moon, too!

It's good to be back :)

I decided to attempt to get back in shape after meeting an old (and now in terrible shape) friend of the family.

Getting back on the erg was not easy, but now after a week I am starting to see improvement so I'm hopeful that a shape other than "slowly becoming rounder" is in my future.

I doubt I'll be in "superhero costume" shape by Halloween, but certainly won't be in "Santa costume" shape by Christmas :)

Welcome to week 4....the final push (hahaha...it's NEVER the final stretch of anything related to erging...we just keep going from Challenge to Challenge!)! So far, 39 Lunies have completed the Dog Days Challenge through week 3! Hooboy, though, this last week is going to test us!

Meanwhile, the numbers we generated were captured at oh dark thirty this AM - just before I took off for Tucson. It's way hotter here, and the erging will be at the gym. Some of you may recall that I consider the sighting of a roadrunner to be good luck. I actively look for them! I hadn't been at my Mom's for 20 minutes when the roadrunner appeared. Instead of a fast clip across the yard, it hopped up on a rock and then went up the palo verde tree. It was awesome. They are quite territorial, so am hopeful of a repeat visit. I could, however, do without the giant gecko that was lurking underneath the trash bin. Made me scream.
