Finished the 11.4 m hike - with some whining from me as we neared the tower. That last bit was a big elevation change...Have a couple of amazing photos - saw lots of deer, osprey...and there were FIVE otters swimming along the shoreline during the early part of the hike. Ate wild raspberries and some huckleberries (without ill effects) along this segment of the Continental Divide Trail. More to come when I can download a couple of photos.

Update the firmware on your PM5 to V27 and you'll solve that ergdata problem.Kona2 wrote: ↑August 5th, 2018, 9:22 amNow that would be frustrating! Not exactly here. The ErgData program will ask if I have finished the workout if I stop rowing for any reason, but once you continue that message goes away and it continues to collect data. Did you lose bluetooth connection on either ergdata or on the PM5?
You might check with Concept2 - they troubleshoot a lot of these things.

Thanks for the replies. I do always use a usb connection for power. I updated the firmware today. I was at a point where I took a break for water and was rowing very slowly. The interesting part is it skipped to the complete distance (2400 meters more) than the actual distance and used the time, resulting in a much better split time than reality. Although, it showed an amazing time for my half marathon, my conscience would not allow me to keep it. I deleted the bogus entry and put the real data in manually. Maybe, I can get closer to my bogus split time someday.Citroen wrote: ↑August 5th, 2018, 11:03 amUpdate the firmware on your PM5 to V27 and you'll solve that ergdata problem.Kona2 wrote: ↑August 5th, 2018, 9:22 amNow that would be frustrating! I have done a number of half marathons. Any advice about getting to a full marathon?
Thanks in advance.

It's been a (mumble) while since I did a full marathon, but I remember some of the basic wisdom:
1. Finish a few half marathons, and feel good about them.
2. Have some sports drinks by the rower. (Plus water, but you'll be wanting to replenish your electrolytes.)
3. Have some light snacks handy. (I recall that a former team member, Kiba, swore by pizza ... but ... )
4. Queue up an entire season of something on Netflix, or a couple of movies.
5. Have a towel, bubble wrap, or extra padding for when your sit bones start complaining.
6. Have rowing gloves, or athletic tape, for hotspot triage.
7. Put a new battery in your monitor. I would cry, if that died, midway through!
8. Then, as Nike says, "Just do it." Psych yourself up and sit down for the long haul.
( ... and, anticipate dealing with any small children, a spouse, or pups, who might decide you need a break!)
We'll all be rooting for ya: Fourth week of Dog Days, in one fell swoop!?

I think when you stop rowing to take a break if you don’t tap the no in response to the message Are you finished it holds the time. By hitting no it keeps on tracking the time. A weak point in the PM. I always meant to test this to be sure. When doing a marathon I always made sure to say no when I sat back down and I have terrible time/pace on those. I don’t ever recall the meters jumping up though. No matter how hard I wished it.
Adding to the advice about doing a marathon. You can try increasing from a half to adding another 10K on that. Or just do it. I once made the mistake of taking some days off before trying my first one. Man, that was a mistake. Maybe take a day or two off but not more than that.
Keep on rock’n.

Happy Happy Birthday to Minnie and bg!
A long time ago, but not in a faraway galaxy, we had some fun with the birthday stats - knowing that in a random group this size, we had good statistical probability of finding AT LEAST two people who shared a birthday. And whoa. We not only had two who shared one, we had something like three sets of people who shared a birthday.
So Double Happy to one of our first sets of birthday twins! We wish you a marvelous year of fun, frivolity and lots of meters - with lots of celebrations along the way! Whoop, whoop and hooyah!

Still week 1, and there are 36 Lunies on the Week 1 "Got er done!" honor board! Good stuff!
Speaking of Dog Days, not surprisingly it isn't only humans who have delayed onset muscle soreness following a tough workout. Wait a minute! Delayed...there was nothing delayed about that muscle soreness! But I digress. Thing 1 and Thing 2 (Kai and Aerie) are stretched out on the floor nearby, with not even an eyelid twitching or an anticipatory "when are we going for a walk" look. No, those two slugs went for a big swim and some bounding through the water after sticks and each other at the lake yesterday. As I was packing up, they were like two little kids who did.not.want.to.go.home. While they are not quite at the stage of limping along, they are zonked out.

Adding my Happy Birthday wish to the birthday twins.
And happy to hear from you, Louis.
I'm chilling on the beach this week. Fortunate that it came early in the Dog Days challenge. If it were any later in the challenge, I think I would need to borrow Louis' monitor to have any chance.

I could have used a magic monitor like that a few times, too! Funny, danwho!danwho wrote: ↑August 6th, 2018, 12:53 pmAdding my Happy Birthday wish to the birthday twins.

One returning teammate, and a new teammate!
Welcome back to Terry B , and welcome to Jamie ! Jamie's completed the week 1 totals for Dog Days, exceeded those numbers actually! Good stuff. That brings us to 37 Lunies on the Honor Board through week 1 (and still have the rest of today and tomorrow to get yer numbers done!).
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
It only happened that one time. Maybe, I should not have updated the firmware to keep its magic. It could be it just felt bad for the slow rowing fat guy (me).Kona2 wrote: ↑August 6th, 2018, 4:06 pmI could have used a magic monitor like that a few times, too!
