Let us eat ice-cream

Post by just27 » June 1st, 2018, 5:35 pm

Thanks for the new temporary avatar, K2 ... looks custom made for next week's volcano vacay!

Meanwhile, let us eat ice-cream. I have exceedingly eclectic tastes in all foods, but I only ever order, or make, vanilla ice-cream.
Don't get me started on donuts ... especially when the red sign is lit and the donuts are hot ... oh, mamma. And, this is why I row.

Another marvelous day, and it is sure to be filled with Good Things! We have 77 Lunies, and are certain to cross the 7 million team meter milestone sometime today. All those Lucky Sevens must be a Signal of a great day ahead....up to you whether or not ice cream is involved! Get enough time on the erg, and you won't have to decide on which flavor to choose!

The ice cream personality test write ups are always fun: https://owlcation.com/social-sciences/I ... ality-Test

... and, segue from "a starry palindrome," I thought this image was amazing. Especially for a space-oriented group of Lunies.

The glow of the lava seen from the top of Mauna Kea with the milky way rising behind. Taken last night.
Maybe, I'll check out the observatory on Mauna Kea. (Seems like a reasonably safe distance away!)

My bad; I didn't mean to imply that this is my picture. I pulled it from Facebook's Hawaii Tracker group, posted by Anthony Quintano ... but, I'm not sure if it's his picture, or simply reposted from elsewhere. Lots of people sharing volcano pictures, on the Hawaii pages. We don't arrive on island till Tuesday. Then, I'll see if the observatory trip is worth the steep price tag. Although ... when we were planning this trip, last fall, it was all about seeing the volcano ("Be careful what you wish for," comes to mind) ... on top of Mauna Kea might be the safest spot!

Hooboy! You know it's going to be a toasty day when the cows are already in the shade 7 AM...Weather Cows...

Summer Solstice Challenge is next up in the Challenge brackets...and surely you know that we are spinning along through space towards that event as dawn's early light gets earlier and earlier. Start putting in some extra meters if you're planning on completing 21,000 m on the 21st of June! In principle, I like this early morning stuff, yet it is really early when the light sends the signal to the pups that it must be time to get up. I won't even hardly mention Jesse the cat, whose stomach clock goes off an hour earlier than everyone else's.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 6.05.18

Post by Kona2 » June 6th, 2018, 2:07 pm

Yesterday I had spotter duty on one of the troublesome holes at Coal Creek Golf Course as a tournament host duty. In between foursomes approaching the dreaded creek they needed to cross, I had time (!) to investigate my surroundings. I was stationed on a bridge over the creek. My reverie was interrupted by a large something moving in the creek. It was one really big turtle. This small tank motored right up the embankment and across the cart path. Slowly, but steadily. Definitely over a foot in length from shell beginning to shell end. Still prehistoric looking.
Almost forgot to watch for where any errant golf balls were landing. Always interesting.
