Thanks... I will display my pin with pride.

It felt bad after about 60K... after 80K... really REALLY bad. My tendons here hurting, and I didn't eat right at all. I burned up about 5,500 calories and didn't eat more than maybe 800 (a box of nerds - all sugar no sodium), some honey, and drank some water. My hip started hurting so bad I had to stop and stretch. Muscle wise, ok. Just needed a fuel strategy. I was pacing a 7:30:00 finish for the first 50K, then it became much more about 'will'.

Prep wise... I just set the date, rowed some one hour pieces to build up to it, tapered off on Friday and showed up at 6am to start. So no enough planning really. Looking back, that was kinda foolish.

As far a weight loss... about 3lbs.

I am still sore today (lower back, hips, shoulders, teeth (YES TEETH)). I did have a cushion, it worked no problem and my hands feel good… I averaged 22spm, 11,569 strokes, about 15 minutes in breaks.

I think I can row this UNDER 8 hours, at least that would be my goal next time... this was a baseline attempt.

My wife, an RN, believes the high amount of sugar and low amount of hydration may have caused an alkali effect? My teeth surfaces are still sensitive.

But I feel pretty ok, still sore in the tendons, but felt pretty alright.

See.. I told you it would be around 9 hours, I just didn't think you could row that long when the most you had rowed was just over 3 hours.
Congrats, really great effort, both mental and physical. But dude, you do it and just drop 2 lines? Post a picture of the PM!!, Tell us how you configured it, did you put 2 intervals of 50 km? 10 of 10? Did you start early in the morning? Stopped now and then in order to hit the bathroom? So many things to comment and you just dropped 2 lines.

I use the ERGDATA app on my phone... it connects to the PM5 wirelessly and won't allow it to go to sleep. To set it up I just went to a single interval of 100,000m and away I went.

Started at 6am. Took my first break at 50K ish, my hip starting hurting pretty bad actually (stretch some, bathroom, refill my waters) and was really effecting the stroke. I did use one of those seat pads - they work!

Overall I think I took 15 mins worth of breaks... I got to the point where I was stopping every 5-10 mins for a minute. The last 20K was harder than I thought.

I didn't eat or drink right for this thing, i'll tell you that... burned 5,500 calories, maybe consumed 800... and that consisted of honey and nerds candy (highest amount of sugar, no sodium). I would have some honey, and was back down in the 2:20's for a while. Once my preworkout drinks with dextrose ran out I was drinking just water, no calories. The BIGGEST impact to my overall pace was the breaks. A stroke rate average of 22 kept me from a lactic acid event... 11,569 stokes worth.

I was pacing around 7:30:00 for the first 50K, then the hip thing. I never thought I couldn't finish - it did get disappointing to see the time erode away - but I will take it.
