After trying a workout today from the 375 erg workouts book which I found bloody hard I’ve decided I am missing the progressive aspect of Pete and therefore will probably start the full PP next Monday. Will post progress.

One question, I’ll hopefully be doing more MTB as summer kicks in which is a long fairly hard workout in itself. Which PP workout would you drop, assuming it’s still important to have at least one day a week off?

2.2 BPP for me tonight

Started with a 3Km warm up, followed by 4*750M and the closed with a 1KM cool Down.

The splits at 750 felt a lot stronger than last week's 500M times so definitely progressing slowly.

@ robert - That's a good question. I'm awful at resting... and, stretching... oh, throw in warm-ups and cool downs.

@ warnie - keep it up!

BPP 17.1: 10,500m

I decided to do 12k and try to hold splits of 2:12 all the way through. Target: 52:48.0. I wanted to overwork because I may be getting another cortizone shot in my elbow tomorrow. If so, I'll need to take a day or 2 off.

If any of you OCD rowers read this... I'm impressed with how y'all do it. It's harder than I thought.

Good question... I do some road cycling...and thought about extending the PP over 2 week... thoughts... I am probably older so I recognise the need for short power reps

You do get one day off each week. There are only 6 workouts. I would eliminate the "hard 5k" if you desire another day off. I cannot imaging eliminating one of the two SS rows, and the interval days are what make the PP so challenging and interesting.

Was going to do 2.3 today 5500M but decided I fancied pushing myself and did 6000 - a Season best time of 27:21 so very pleased with that.

In 3 weeks I've got my SPM average down to 22 and my heart rate is so much better than it was. Took 5k before I saw it in the 90th percentile.

Very pleased with that.

Congrats!!! You crushed it. Thanks for the motivation. I was thinking you'd pull around a 7:40 - 7:45, but you smashed that. Look at your HR getting up there too. Are you a sandbagger?

Thanks Ray - I obviously wasn't trying hard enough in the BPP!! No sandbagging, honest guv!

I'm pretty surprised at this time as the Paul's Law site was also predicting me at around 1:55-59 based on my 10K and 30 minute PBs. Maybe it was the music - welcome to the jungle at full blast although it only lasts about 5 minutes so I got to hear it twice

Good Day All,
Been reading through the string and there is really a lot of progress on here. I couldn't help but miss this group while reading through.
I will be starting the PP next Tuesday. I anyone has been thinking about giving it a go, it could be fun to have some people starting at the same time. Not for comparison, but mostly for those darn 1k days, haha.

Talk to you soon, keep up the awesome work.

Hi David
I'm starting the PP on Monday for the first time. Just completed the beginners plan and did my first 2k test. :D

@rascott - Awesome man. I love this plan. Did it for a few rounds last winter and really looking forward to it. Have you figured out how you are going to schedule your intervals? Although you didn't ask for it, I will give you the biggest thing I learned last time - pace the intervals as described in the plan and make sure your first round of intervals is properly based on previous times. Otherwise, it gets VERY difficult very quickly. Glad someone else will be starting at the same time.

David, you can make the ref paces conservative at the outset. You can also curb volume and pace on those 3 active recovery days. Self-immolation always follows the same arc. You feel like you’re the maddest, baddest, nail chewer that ever lived and then one day your body sends you a message that puts paid to that, know what I’m saying? Take your time! Sneak up on a big goal. Hold something in reserve for the main event. Enjoy!
