Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
You've used the quote button right mate, and thank you. I'm more suited to the longer distances and with good music and enough spare time I can row for hours.
I'll be very interested to see when you break the 7 min 2k barrier as you're not far off at the moment and with some more hard training and bolstering your confidence you'll nail it.

Not much to most here, but I was thrilled to finally row a sub 8 minute 2k today after finishing my first round of the Pete plan this week. My last PB on the 2k was last month at 8:18. I knew I would be close to 8 minutes but pulled a 7:54.6 today after playing 2 hours of singles tennis.

That is a lot to most of us in terms of you beating your PB. It's all relative, so very well done for smashing it. That is a massive improvement.mitchel674 wrote:Not much to most here, but I was thrilled to finally row a sub 8 minute 2k today after finishing my first round of the Pete plan this week. Very nicely done mitchel. You've improved a huge amount since you first started rowing!mitchel674 wrote:Not much to most here, but I was thrilled to finally row a sub 8 minute 2k today after finishing my first round of the Pete plan this week. Thanks, Tom. The 10 minute 2k six months ago was a good day!JerekKruger wrote:Very nicely done mitchel. I really do appreciate the encouragement and knowledge I've gained on this site. Inspiring for me and keeps me working. The best, and often repeated, advice here is to receive inspiration from others but compete only against yourself.

Congrats! You just demonstrated your advice to me. I was just thinking of your previous best as a target for me (8:18). Now 7:54 is months away . Maybe...mitchel674 wrote: My last PB on the 2k was last month at 8:18. I knew I would be close to 8 minutes but pulled a 7:54.6 today .

New 5k PB of 18:33 today. Not super excited about this one because I died hard after a fast first 1000m (and was hoping for 18:20), but I'll take a 30 sec PB any day! Learned a good lesson about going out too fast because that was the most pain I think I've ever felt on the erg.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
rowed a 5k this morning, and shaved 1:30 off my previous best.
My goal this morning was a 2:06 pace @ 24spm.
I finished @ 2:05.2 and 23spm. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. I pushed that last 1k down to 2:02, and felt like I could have gone harder the whole way.
Still learning how to pace myself.
I guess that means something to look forward to on my next go.

As Mitchel said, well done Brett. Pacing is always an issue and will continue to be so. There's just no way of knowing, except with hindsight, if you have paced it properly not least as your mind can be your worst enemy when it gets really tough.mitchel674 wrote:Congrats, Brett.
