HIIT on a BikeErg vs magnetic resistance spin bikes

Post by Portsmouth » February 3rd, 2018, 7:36 am

Anyone here doing HIIT with their BikeErg? I'm shopping for an indoor bike, and am trying to assess the BikeErg against significantly more expensive models like the Kaiser m3i and Schwinn AC Performance Plus. I'm well aware of Concept2's reputation for build quality and at half or less than half the price of the options listed above, it's a super intriguing contender.

i know i sound like a zwift salesman on this forum, but i am using zwift with the bike erg and doing 'applied HIITs' during sprints and hills and just racing random people from around the world as i try to catch them when they're generating 250-300 watts and blow by me and i am having a lot of fun!

so if you mean, 'can i ride hard as possible followed by recovery and then do it again''? and , 'will the bikeerg stand up to hard sustained sprints' ? , then yes and yes.

love the machine. upgraded the seat and pedals because with zwift i typically ride between 45- 75 minutes which is a LOT more than i was riding (or rowing) before. i'm 6'1" and about 170 pounds, so i can't speak to its ability to handle a big 250 pound tight end, but for me it is solid.

What bike are you riding ? When I stand on the Bike Erg for HIT and resistance slips making it useless for this purpose. Concept 2 cshrugs its shoulders and says it is not responsible for this clunker.

You join the forum just to rip a product, then post a link to a ridiculously ignorant review. i apologize in advance if I'm off base here, but you sure do sound like a troll. Somewhat related, many forums have a probationary period before a new member can review a product.

That review is stupid. Really nothing else to say.

Never had any slippage. Not a big guy (170) and rarely get above 400 watts, but feels solid.
