Huge 30’ number, Remi, and good to see you back on the forum. And good to see Hillclimber on the comeback trail from the DVT!

@ Kerosene - that's fantastic on your 2K! Sub 7 is quite a milestone! Congrats on that! To be honest, I knew it was a question of when, not if, for you!

Nice Remicongrats
It’s been interesting, returning to some level of form after a couple of health issues have been more or less brought under control.
Plenty of low rate meters, 30 r20 at UT2-1. Occasional harder work, a few 11:00 x 4 sessions.
Slow climb back. Keeping at it. Great to see the hard work and progress here - good motivation.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I decided to go for sub-7 today in the gym. Feeling fitter after getting in more metres in with my shed erg since January. Here are the numbers.

I paced it very conservatively, with the plan to go through 1000m at 1:46 split, so I was pretty much on track and then I wanted to hold on until 200m before really going for it. I'm happy with my discipline but it seems from the final 500m of 1:42.1 that I could have paced it better, but I'm still pleased to get sub-7 in the bag. I'm not really sure where the final 500m came from, I didn't think I had it in me.
Compared to July last year when I did my previous PB (3 seconds slower) and felt like I was going to drop dead, this was a good bit easier. Still tough, but not "I'm going to die, for sure" tough.
As for my rate, I just feel much more comfortable and natural at 28/29 for the 2k, which I know some say is too slow. Drag factor was 116, which I have tested a lot. I just can't seem to handle a drag of 120 or higher for 2k. Maybe I should work on this more, and rate, as I know I'm still basically a novice and it's all for fun and fitness so I don't have anything to lose.
Thanks for the inspiration folks.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Well done Jimmy, great effort. As you say it's just for fun, but if you want to try an increased drag try it at a slower pace and longer distance to get used to it. Given the last 500m pace you've got some more to give too.jimmyshand wrote:I decided to go for sub-7 today in the gym. Feeling fitter after getting in more metres in with my shed erg since January. Thanks Dangerscouse, I might try to increase drag. I checked my log and I did have a 7:05 2k at 136 drag when I'd only been rowing for a couple of months so maybe time to revisit this.

Couldn't have said it better that this about your time Jimmy. You can make up a LOT of time in that last 500 if you pace it well. Huge congrats. That was a smart 2K!RWAGR wrote:Jimmy- GREAT EFFORT.
