I'm finding a distinct difference...for the 2K it's exposing my poor stroke action (mainly lack of leg drive) despite rating low because my stroke is so long if that makes sense ...probably less of an issue for you as you're taller and heavier and if you've had a bit more sense (than me) you've worked on getting a more classic "action" on the erg. I wish you good luck....Dangerscouse wrote:I now need to think about my 2km TT, which is a bit daunting as I'm very untrained for that distance, but the 5km has given me some confidence.

@ Tom, hahaha I'll give you a head start mate. It will probably be another couple of months before I give the 2k a TT. I like to think that a 6:35 is possible but there's a big difference between thought and action!
@ Henry, thanks mate. That's useful to know
@ Anth. Thanks, It was a struggle for a little bit and almost fell apart
@ Mark, thanks. There's a little bit more to squeeze out but i suspect not much more.
@ Paul, I also have a bit of an issue with leg drive, which I'm working on. The power curve looks good but I don't feel like I really drive with my legs enough.

Well, didn’t set any record for a set piece, but I started using rowpro a couple of months ago, and ended up rowing the longest distance I ever have in a single session. Did a workout that covered 18K. Furthest I’ve ever gone in 25 years.

It’s been almost an hour and I am freezing and feel sick still. Quite succesfull max effort. Felt and feel like crap. Didn’t have much sprint in me. Last 4 pulls started to fade.
Was able to keep 30-31 rate.
Very happy as 7 min is a big deal for unfit daddy-bod like me.

You are right about the sig. (edit: it had my older 7:12.x time) that time is from July or August. I did 7.04 little over a week ago as a test for yesterday’s time trial.
Originally my plan was to go to FIRC (Finnish IRC). The level of competition in past years has not been too high and sub 7:00 would have put me about last but not last by ridiculous margin. As my training failed to be very consistent in the autumn I decided to skip the FIRC which was last weekend (The last rower in 40-49 HW clocked 7:11 btw.) and instead scheduled my own TT.
Now I have a year to get in 6:50 range where this year 4-5 rowers battled within seconds from each other.
Edit2: splits info
Total: 6.58.9 @ 1:44.7, 305W, R31
500m 1:44.1, R30
1000m 1:45.4, R31
1500m 1:45.5, R31
2000m 1:44.0, R32

Congrats on the PB, Remi.
Turning that corner 12:00 - 8:00 to go, that’s the hurt zone for the 30 when you’re on the edge.
Well done!
