Unfortunately this "Sentiment" must be quite common or you would see at least a hundred or so people online no matter what time of the day or night you looked.
We live in a world that is increasingly "Competitive" and it clearly affects everyone to different degrees. There are very few people that get online that are happy going at their own pace and still feel "Happy" about their workout at the finish if they are seen to come last which is really sad because RowPro is about regular training and not racing.

Carl, you must suffer the time zone curse worse than I do, but I often feel left out here on the east coast of the US with most of the rows occurring at opportune times in and around the UK. I'm either working or sleeping when most sessions seem to begin!Carl Watts wrote:Unfortunately this "Sentiment" must be quite common or you would see at least a hundred or so people online no matter what time of the day or night you looked.

Re: RowPro online failure
I gave up on rowpro as well, the 1980s graphics were annoying, its just clunky, dated software. And really having to schedule a time to row with a group is just not how I want to train. I am primarily a cyclist and row 3-4 x/week for strength. I use Zwift in the Winter, and now use it to row. I think calling it a "game" is coming from someone that never trained on the program. The graphics are good, the competition is there if you want or not, group rides if you're into it with or without friends, events setup to ride, Charity rides etc. there's training programs setup as well, it's very motivational to ride, pace or just get a self-motivated interval workout, no pressure from anyone if anything, people are encouraging giving "kudos" or "thumbs up " gestures. and now with Painsled allowing me to "row" on zwift it's just very cool to chase down riders with my C2, row watch a nice large graphic of my wattage. Zwift also allows you to "run" with a footpod, something else I do for fitness and training.

Re: RowPro online failure
It could be just me but there is something wrong with me rowing and having the graphics of a Cyclist.
I guess with my primary interest being rowing and not cycling it presents a problem.
There are people using the Concept 2 SkiErg with the online rowing but it makes you much slower. How do you try and directly compare cycling effort and rowing effort on the same screen ?

Same way you do it for any other software. You're not rowing or biking, you're stationary. Your brain sorts it out pretty quick that effort in is equaling effort out. Zwift is missing an opportunity, but I imagine they have had discussions, and rowing is not as popular as biking, so it's a numbers thing. I would check it out, but I'm a cheapskate, and for me I don't want to spend $15 a month to stay fit. For another $10 I can join a gym and do so much more than erg.

Re: RowPro online failure
Err no you need a level playing field for any software you use. Tha'ts why the Concept 2 is the perfect bit of gear in the first place, you can directly compare your effort from one Erg to another, its totally the opposite to a spin bike class where you can adjust the drag to next to nothing and appear to be going flat out.
Its bad enough in RowPro as it is, people have to explain that they are "Old" or on a "SkiErg" and that's why they are slower.
The age thing can easily be fixed with the graphics, you just need a choice of several male and female rowers not the current one only for male/female.
The best you can do currently is make your hair look gray !
