@ Lance, very well done. Just doing a 50km is an achievement enough but knocking off that much time is really impressive. Drinking a lot and regularly is important especially if you sweat a lot, like I do. Any plans to go further; 75km or double marathon??

@ David, yes mate it's at the gym and the manager there is extremely helpful and a load of people are calling in through the day to help take my mind of the pain and discomfort!!

@Danger Thanks! I'm working on building up my aerobic base for the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championship in Feb. I'll be entering the standard 2k race in the morning (hoping to go sub 7 at this particular event) but they also have a 4 min event in the afternoon for charity. All entrants just try to get as many meters as they can for fun and one lucky participant's name will be drawn to win a Concept2 Model D at the end. There might only be 30 or 40 entrants, so those are decent odds. I'm hoping to crack 1200m at this event. After 10 months of rowing, The 1k seems to be my best event and the 4 min is only a bit longer so.... .

As for going longer then 50k.... the rower seems to have a limit of 50k ? (I've not really looked into how you can program greater distances). However, I have considered doing back-to-back 30k to simulate a 60k, but I don't see myself going father then that until I can get a Concept2 of my own and train at home. The music at the health club really gets on my nerves after a few hours.

@ Lance, I used to think that. If you go to intervals and single distance with no intervals you can program it up to 999,999m. There are no splits just an average pace and stroke but that's a small price.to pay

There was no way I was doing my 100km and not ranking it due to it being two 50km sessions.

I can't row without my own music. I'd rather not row than have no music.

Good luck on the 4mins comp. If 1k is your best event.you do stand a good chance

An improvement of almost 2:45 ! Damper was at 6.

Im very pleased (and hungry!). I carb loaded this morning and drank twice as much water during the piece this time. Body felt pretty good throughout. Minor pain in my middle finger on my left hand (old injury).

Doing one 50 km wasn't crazy enough!?

That's an SPI of 17. Row a 2k with the same SPI at 36SPM and that'll be a 5:32 2k, so a world record :D

@ Marius, wow. Restricted to r18 and that fast? You'll definitely improve on your unrestricted 2k.

From what Tom has said we now expect a new WR!!

Haha, no problem!

OtwSL - Thanks :) Been sick and a tad overtrained so have taken it slowly for some weeks.
JMac - Thanks :)
Dangerscouse - Thanks :) WR on its way  I already see some nice results of the low rate and low intensity training.

Sub 6 will not be far off at all the way he is munching through the metres.

Marius, make sure to reinforce the chain and anchor the erg to the floor before you try

Nice work Marius, relation between rate 18 and free is not that great, 2 years ago I pulled a sub7 2k and 6.22 free rate.

Guys for 6 flat you need a lot more, let the man work for 6.10 first. :P
