(However, on nights like these, I'm glad the C2 Rower isn't made of wood.)
The model C still has a wooden stick as pull handle....
Oh no, you're right... I forgot about that.
Fortunately, one kind soul offered to make a replacement.
Now, I just need someone to reach for it when he's done.

Million Team Meters!!!
Standard time has returned....although how something that lasts only four months of the year is called "standard" .... more of life's mysteries. Get out your headlamps....hahaha!
Meanwhile, most of the leaves are now on the ground...prompting many thoughts of "there must be a MILLION leaves out here" - especially the itty bitty leaves of the locust tree. So. I wondered how you estimate just how many leaves are on a tree. Naturally, some of you may have had similar thoughts. Snort. But here's a suggested technique for leaf number guessing. This activity might have to wait until trees are full again...but still. It's possible Put it on that section of your calendar that says September 2018 Tasks!

Thanks, everyone, for erging with us...in all its forms!

Doug 10,352 m
Steve W 12,369 m
Derric 21,097 m ... he moons us on a full moon night! I'm sure that's extra credit!
The Holiday Challenge will be here before you're really ready...and you'll leap at the chance to get those meters done EARLY and often to earn your holiday challenge pin and have your meters count towards Concept2's charity donations. Excitement abounds (and leaps, too).
And, if there are any pen aficionados out there, during my graphics searches for leaping reindeer, etc., I did find a fun holiday flying reindeer pen made by the Fisher Space Pen people...

Good to know, officially, from C2 ... I've been converting my bikeErg meters to row meters, by editing out half the distance, ever since getting the bike in August. (Otherwise, they weren't being counted.) BTW, I really enjoy using, and highly recommend the C2 bikeErg ... in case anyone's looking for an outstanding Christmas present!

Snow falling here....just enough to turn Thing 1 and Thing 2 into total maniacs! A Scientific American blog (they have a blog??) from 2015 might be of interest to those who ponder why some dogs love snow (the first couple of paragraphs are certainly snort-worthy):

Meanwhile, as the virtual calendar pages get turned as we approach the Big Event (naturally I'm talking about the Holiday Challenge), some of our teammates appear to be picking up the pace! Or maybe it's the shorter days driving us inside.

Snort ... and here I was, thinking that I'm already a biker! I mean, really, I have the padded seat, padded gloves, and padded shorts ... AND, have been pedaling happily for three months. (Albeit, in front of the TV, away from cars, dogs, and bumps in the road!) Do I also need a day-glo lycra shirt?

You are a fine bike erger. Now all you need is weather and variable terrain....and knowing that you can't just get off your bike when you're tired...but that would be kind of snobby to require....day glo shirts are good...performance material with a bit of lycra. Hula hula, Minnie.

Weather and variable terrain!? Egads. Sounds very rugged ... so not my thing, Buttercup.
(Although, I am watching Longmire while on the bike and rower ... that's pretty rugged.)

Reindeer are heading our way....
And with the annual migration spotted, you may see the need to set your goals and make time for some charity dollar earning, calorie burning, fun and reindeer games.
Is this your first Holiday Challenge with the Lunies? For those new to the team (or in need of a reindeer refresher), one of the things that we do for FUN and motivation, is to have teammates earn their Reindeer and Reindeer Bling with the different milestones they amass on the way to earning more and more Charity $$$.
100K earns you your reindeer...and reindeer name.
The first 8 to the 100K milestone are eligible for the classic reindeer names (all that Comet and Blitzen stuff). Naturally, if you are bg for example, you may wish to always be Starbuck. Hint: if you have a preference, send me a PM as your meter total gets close to the 100K milestone. At the 100K level, you've also earned the basic donation of $2.00, and you'll start earning 0.04 per km.
200K earns antler lights for your reindeer...let the bling begin!
And your highly coveted 2018 Holiday Challenge pin...the beginning of a TRADITION.
300K...ooooh....the Flashing Harness
400K ....it's all of the above AND the tail wag
500K ....all of the above AND ear wag
MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:
