well done Piers - good progress and nice metres indeed.Pie Man wrote:Completed the IRL one mile for this month in 5:44.9 @32 spm which is 1.3s faster than I managed last year, but it was a pretty hard effort involving searching for my lungs afterwards. Not sure there is much room for improvement, I will see how the c2ctc goes to see if I give the mile another go. I also am part of the LWT facebook group, and this month is a 60 min row, which I did yesterday for 14434m which is a pb and also a nice load of meters for the Fall Team Challenge.

Thanks Lindsay,
Just done the c2ctc in 7:02 which has floated the first boat.
1:47.6 500m 1:47.6 31
r: 2:00 35m
4:24.3 1,250m 1:45.7 31
r: 1:00 32m
0:50.1 250m 1:40.2 34
Pretty pleased with that and if I pressed the first 500 a bit more I think sub 7 is possible.
I have entered the BRIC 2k so hopefully I can keep a bit of progress up to get near to my 7:10 pb on the day.

Nice effort Piers.
I made my first effort today as well. I ended up with a bit of a fly and die on the 1250m leg. Total time 7:32.2. I haven't been very consistent this month but I'll give another effort next week. Unfortunately after that no more rowing for me for the rest of October.

Re: Forum Flyers
nice work guys
The good news is that Steve Ockerby (he lives in North Queensland - Townsville) has recruited 2 women from his OTW club - they have just put in some times which will help a bit!

Re: Forum Flyers
Just gave the C2CTC a go, overall a nasty and painful experience.
Had to skip last month's challenge due to illness, but erg season has kicked off again so it's back to work to build up some endurance.
Lost 10 watts of my 60 minute steady state average pace over the summer even though I feel I gained speed on water throughout the summer.
Another 2 months of work should see me back where I left last spring.

Re: Forum Flyers
I may have overdone the first 500m a bit.. havent done one in ages and I went a bit harder than I should have with the 1250 in mind.
I'm not complaining about my time, but I think I should be able to do better even though my current 2k is probably slightly over 7mins.

Re: Forum Flyers
Good to see the good times coming in congratulations to all.
Does anyone have any idea relation the ctc has in to 2k pace this month? I have only really being doing SS work with the occasional ctc or indoor rowing league distance, so I have very little idea what my 2k pace will be.With me 'competing' at the BRIC in December I'd like to complete a 2k soon so but would rather get a handle on a pace rather than trying to extrapolate from my SS work which is currently 45mins at around 2:05/06 with HR under 140.

Re: Forum Flyers
Piers I think the consensus (which makes sense) is about 2k-2/3 at absolute max - I am thinking that mine today was about 2k pace and wasn't 100%. If you look at the guys at the very top like Andy Benko he is probably a 2k @1:31 ish and a 1:28.8 on this one! (and he turns 50 in 2 months). marius did a 6:10 and is probably somewhere between 6:15-20 for a 2kPie Man wrote:Good to see the good times coming in congratulations to all. Re: Forum Flyers
Thanks Lindsay,
That could be pretty good news for me as it predicts a 2k around my PB time (7:10-7:14) which considering my lack of HIT recently is nice to see.
Of course I still have to do it but at least I have an idea of what I should aim for.

Think 10 seconds below 2k sounds ok. Ctc is not seldom a bit below max for most.lindsayh wrote:Piers I think the consensus (which makes sense) is about 2k-2/3 at absolute max - I am thinking that mine today was about 2k pace and wasn't 100%. Benco is on his way to the wr 50 plus, which is very long standing.
Marius 6.17, but still rapidly improving

Did challenge series today. Pulled 5:52. Nowhere near the 5:26 I pulled few years ago. Got some work to do. ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
