I am sweating a lot especially during my half maraton exercises. I have bought my brand new Concept2 2 years ago and now my seat has a bump next to rollers due to draining sweat. Should I have to worry about that. If the bump gets bigger, they will block rollers to operate smoothly. Anyone experiencing the same? Do I need to buy a new seat soon?

Re: Bump under the seat due to oversweating
The early Model C rowers were just bare exposed wood composite like MDF under the seat so any sweat just soaks in and the wood expands.
If you realize it early enough you can dry the seat out and clearcote it with varnish of the like.
If I was in the USA, just buy a new seat it has a vinyl like material on it for protection and the grey seat is like twice as soft as the black model C seat.
Don't change the Model C seat brackets however, they are better than the new version if you sweat a lot. The new Model D mounts are steel and need to be nickel plated, mine just rusted real bad so I have had to replace them.

Re: Bump under the seat due to oversweating
Had the same problem with my early D. It fell apart during a 2k race on Rowpro. I was living in China at the time and bought a new seat through C2 China who had one in stock and shipped it next day. That was six years ago and no sign of the same problem. Think the D would have done about 40 million metres at that time so not a big deal.

I found out that I have the same problem after reading this post. I will be ordering a Christmas present for myself!
