My missus will be with me competing in the 55-59 Lwt's (she'll be 59) and should get under 7:50.
See you there

That's a pretty solid time for the lady Rod! Hope to see you at CB's. Every year I have an internal war going on "do I really want to put myself through this?".And now the OTW aspect has taken control. But......when it gets cold and the boat house closes I'm sure I'll be back at it!

Thanks Lindsay, I see her fame has spread!lindsayh wrote:hey Ed - search for Carol Woodward - she is a way up there and seiously good - wins in the BRIC and at Boston as well I thinkEdward4492 wrote:That's a pretty solid time for the lady Rod! Yes Ed, she doesn't use my surname (who would!) although we are married I assure you!
She won in Boston 2011 and 2014 and has won the British Champs more often than I can remember (I think I ran out of fingers last time I tried!) but is getting very old now....although not as old as me so says she'll come along this time as I'm going to be the youngest in my age group....but we've got to go back again in 2019 as that's when she'll be the youngest in the 60-64's so I've got no escape just yet!
I'm like you....I keep wondering why I continue to put myself through all this....we do though don't we....I guess we can feel good about ourselves for choosing the hard (and therefore more rewarding) road in life although I sometimes wonder if the word ''hard'' shouldn't be replaced by ''stupid'' Lol!

I look forward to seeing you there, best wishes for being in good shape

@Rod - brilliant target time for a lwt in your age group. Hats off!! I've not done any 2k training for years but would hope I could go sub 6:50 so ot that much faster really!!

Thanks G', I'm hoping to be faster than last year as I didn't really train as well as I think I could have so hope to learn from my mistakes and get it right this year.Gammmmo wrote:@Rod - brilliant target time for a lwt in your age group. I used to get in the mid to late 6:40's regularly but that when I was late 40's early 50's .....a long time ago!

These days I'm a lot slower but still like to crack the 7 which I did last year but it gets harder every year.....oh well....I can but try!

Re: Welsh Indoor Rowing Champs - Cardiff 25/11
Well, the last name explains, couldn't figure out why I couldn't find her. Guess you need to earn a hammer to keep up? Looks like you'll be in serious contention, but I gotta be honest. If Tom Phillips stays on top of his game he'll be difficult to beat. But.....going under seven minutes is a high bar to set; And you've been there so you can do it!
I won't be back there, I'll be looking to get under 7:15. Like I said.....the boat has taken control! Doing a LWT regatta in three weeks, OTW is 160lbs, just got there this morning. Good luck with your training.

Gammmmo I'm hoping to - I went last year and really enjoyed it (despite my performace) - short thread about it here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=151447&p=389606#p389606Gammmmo wrote:Any forumites going? Was thinking of entering - it's a 2km comp.
Top 3 in the M40-49 LWT all between 6:41.1 and 6:41.9 last year - and then even 4th was only another 1.1 back.

Re: Welsh Indoor Rowing Champs - Cardiff 25/11
Hi Rohan. So...u aiming for sub7 this time? I know what u mean about underperforming - did that at my first (of only 2 so far!) c2 comp at the BIRC way back in 2004. At the time I was around 6:50 and just didnt do what I had done several times before...I clocked 6:58. I remember a distinct point where even 7:0x was on the cards and that snapped me out of it. I havent done any 2k training since starting back again last year. My 5Ks would suggest I could go sub 6:50 but still unknown right now. So far It's more about 5K for me and maybe more faster 2k oriented sessions will help with that. We'll see....Bloodbuzz Corio wrote:Gammmmo I'm hoping to - I went last year and really enjoyed it (despite my performace) - short thread about it here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=151447&p=389606#p389606Gammmmo wrote:Any forumites going?
