Hey fellow Taffs!
Since no one has posted today I thought I would and update everyone since I haven't posted much this season.
June 3rd I graduated with 2 degrees - Honours Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education (P/J). It was such a great day! Finally could take a big sigh of relief after a very tough few years.
I'm trying to up my rowing meters from 50k a week to 60k or better. I've managed most weeks so far. I've just begun another course to allow me to also teach intermediate level students (@ age 12-15) so my time is getting limited again for rowing...but I will keep trying!
My times are slowly, but surely starting to drop again close to where I was a few years ago. I'm hoping to post some SPBs (season personal bests) by the end of the month to get me back into competitive mode again! And of course, I'm going to try to give Martin a run with the meters (especially if he doesn't post many in the next few weeks to give me a chance to catch up!)
Okay, back to work I go. I managed to add 14k to the Taffy bank today and plan on about 12k tomorrow.

DB

Congratulations Debra. Two degrees...way to go!

So I've thrown the gauntlet down to all but Dwayne on the meters board after putting in a big couple of weeks. Hopefully I can keep it going next week but I really fancy a shot at the 2k PB which means resting

Mike

Congratulations on the degrees, Debra, that's really great stuff. I dropped out of my degree. \o/ That was mainly because I decided I didn't want to be a teacher, though. =)

No metres for me today, as I'd doing garden stuff such as preparing a base for my shed that arrives tomorrow.

I believe Martin is away for a while (?) and I'm a l-o-n-g way off from catching up with you. Rest and have a fantastic go at the 2k PB!!

DB
PS wait, isn't there someone else close to your meters in there? I'll have to go and check.

Well Taff's it seems we moved into 2nd place while I was visiting the mouse in Disney. I alas have been committed (not to an insane aslyum, though I could use the rest) , but to work kids and life in general. I have recently noiced that several, (12) of my teammates have moved agead of me. Well gloves on and time to reclaim 2nd Place, A warning has been issued to all above me , except the high and mighty Lord Speedy . I shall live on the erg until I have reclaimed my spot and maybe 4th Place.
As for Bike rides, I have done two centuries and have four more planned this year, as well as the 250 mile,9/11 ride to raise money for widows and orphans of ther NYPD. But Carla my love a 37 lb. bike would kill me. You are my idol, My road bike weighs in at 14.8 Lbs. And if I lose twenty pounds, well how fast would I go
Any way teammates time to put up the taff meters, because Im back and fat from Vacation. Best to all , Happy fourth of July, Mike

Question is whether to stay in the hunt or wind down for a really quick 2k run. Think I'll take a run at a 2k in the coming couple of days without two much time off knowing I can do a little better with a bit more rest in the legs. I have been doing a few training sessions where I have held 1.45-1.47 pace without too much bother for over 1k so it is just a matter of gritting the teeth and getting on with it.

Mike
I'm staying over on the Friday night to make sure I'm fresh for my race (didn't want to travel up in the morning as I'd be stressed after 90 minutes in a car with the kids and my wife!).

I've made a note of everyone's race times and will be cheering on everyone. It would be great if we could sort out a "team" photo as it could be a rare moment to get a large portion of Taff Attack together (I've got a special t-shirt I've made just for the occasion - more of that on Saturday!).
