had a third go at the 6k with terry doing his first
Improved to 22:40.0 @1:53.3 - better but not great time yet but MHR was pretty close to max
terry did @1:56.8 which he was pleased with but he can do better next time too
It is good 2k training as well

Thanks Henry happy enough of course. My time last year at this time was 22:14.5 @1:51.2 which is my all time PB actually. Would like to get close to that if I can.

Tried a 30min rate 28. Idea was 146.x...

Reality  150.3... This will be my ctc this month. This ranks high in my list of worse results ever. :|
But the pm does not lie...

I'm back! Although I suspect no-one noticed I'd gone missing :D

After no rowing since 28 March 2016 (and barely once a month since 2011), I finally found the motivation that had left me, and got stuck into the August challenge (really no excuse for skipping a 200m row!). It's going to be a long road back to my 2008/09 PBs, but I'm ready for the challenge. I don't think I reached my peak in my 30s when I set them, so I'm optimistic that at 43 I should be able to blow past them with some regular training before age starts catching up.

It's pretty clear when the training went down - my daughters were born in 2009 and 2011, coinciding with a change in role at work. Since then it was about priorities changing, but now that they're older I'm finding a lot more time available for myself now. Work still intrudes now and then, but after kicking off again on 13 August, I'm managing a regular 2-3 sessions a week, which I'll add to as the groove comes back.

I've spent a couple of weeks catching up on all the missing forum posts (unfortunately missed the fall of the UK forum). Glad to see we've attracted some new members to the team pages here (but not enough slow ones to join me at the back it seems!).

Cheers
Dave

Forgot to add that I put in a time for the 4 minute September Indoor Rowers League event under the High Flyers, but if you need to make space for the real contenders, I'm happy to shuffle back to the Flounderers.

Welcome back Dave - it is funny about people missing - names drop out of sight you say "I wonder what happened to so and so" and then they reappear.

Just hang in there dont think there will be enough for a second team and we might even struggle to get a full 8 each month. Terry and I are booked for tomorrow for the 4 minutes

Henry has turned into a meter muncher!! Good time to get some volume.
It is not often that jack is bested in one of these challenges

Henry has a new love, Lindsay. Ski-erg! Matthew Croy, mystery man from New York state, is currently top dog Flyer on the affiliation board. Keep going Matthew! And Georgina P. is putting in long sessions intermittently. I wonder if she was directing training to a relay squad or team record effort earlier this season? Gritting my teeth to chew thru 8k per day at this time but trying to stick with it.

Gave it a go today. First time on the erg this month after being ill. Managed just above 1100 mtrs. Noticed my entry was the third this month. So, like you mentioned Lindsayh, it will be a struggle to get a full 8. But We re probably not the only team struggeling.

Posted my second entry for the IRL, just managed 1037.
I can't see my name in the High Flyers on the 8on8 page. Most of the entries there seem to be 0.
My profile page says I'm registered for High Flyers and Forum Flyers.

Half is skierg, but yes I try to make meters at the moment, 7 weeks in a row now. Hardly done any faster work though.

I wonder if it's because there are already 10 names in the High Flyers team, even though some are 0. We only have until 1 October 12:00 GMT to finish arranging teams, so it might be easier to create another team for this year's competition, and we can get the active people to move over there.
