Yes Chris, the FM is in a league of it's own for sure. Your sub 3 was my main motivator when the going got tough = thanks mate.<br /><br />Easy week ? - next stop that sub 6:50 2K (says he who can hardly lift the arms to type this).<br /><br />Martin <br /><br />PS Thought I would put the FM in my signature but I can't remember how to set up details in a signature, help please.

Click on "my controls" (top right of page)<br />Then on left hand side (under personnel profile) click on "edit signature".<br /><br />I just noticed as well, your marathon puts you No 2 in Taff Attack meter rankings - good s**t man.

Martin,<br /><br />FANTASTIC RESULT!!! <br /><br />Not having done a marathon I can only imagin what battles (mental and physical) you had to fight on the way. Total respect to you <br /><br />Nice to see you up at #2 in the Taff Attack Standings! All you need to do now is keep doing these marathons each and every day and you'll catch up with Dwayne before long

Niall, Carla, Chippy - Thanks guys <br /><br />Niall my aquatic friend, the FM is really the ultimate experience out of the 10 ranking pieces - when you are ready to take the plunge I'm sure we will have lots of good advice for you (tip #1 - very low DF for us 'sus backers' !). Having said that I have NO intention of multiple repeats of FM to keep up with Speedy's massive Ks <br /><br />Carla, your 3:07 also proved inspirational and I can appreciate how hard earned it was now that I've travelled the same path. Only 'movies' in the gym are a bank of 4 TVs set up high and to a 45 degreee angle to the ergs - guaranteed to bring on a sore neck if viewed for more than a minute at a time !<br /><br />And Mr Chippy, the only 'cold ones' were my hands and feet afterwards - took ages before the blood returned to warm them up How's the 2K training program going ? Still on target ? Let me know when you are close to doing 6:50 as I don't want to get there too quickly before you <br /><br />Hope the weather stays lovely and sunny for weeks Byron !<br /><br />Cheers<br /><br />Martin

Hello everyone<br /><br />I'm a new recruit living and rowing in Newport. I have been rowing for few years but really got into it after I sold my water rower and bought a nice shiny C2 <br /><br />Now things are getting serious and looking forward to posting some serious distance and going for a sub-7 2K time. I guess my best answer would be that it depends on the person. To say one thing works for everyone would be bogus. My training methods will be different than Chippy's or Carla's or MikeZ's.<br />Mostly because we're all different people, different ages, and at different fitness levels.<br /><br />There are a number of training plans that are out for public use. The C2 plan on the UK site, the Wolverine Plan, the Marsten Plan, etc. All of them are solid, and all of them will work. It will depend on your training methods, level of commitment, and whether you like one plan over the other.<br /><br />I know this doesn't really answer your question. Sorry. Hi Mike,<br /><br />The interactive 2,000 m training programme (Can't those guys on the other side of the pond ever learn to spell?) is a good one. As has been pointed out by Ranger and others, the training in the various bands is sometimes a challenge because you are supposed to maintain a certain stroke rate, stay in a certain heart rate band, and maintain a certain pace, all at the same time. It forces you to use a reasonably efficient technique. <br /><br />Be sure to notice that in the charts when they use %max heart rate they really mean resting heart rate + certain %*(max heart rate - resting heart rate).<br /><br />Byron<br /><br /><br /><br />

Well there Taff's, <br /> It seems we are looking quite good for the first weeks of the new season. I happened to notice that Sue is out ahead of Graham Shocking I'd say. Say hello to my angels Sue. Welcome aboard Mike, As well as all the newer members since I last posted. Does anyone know what happened to Debra, I noticed she pulled her meters from last years tally. All is well here, Mikey is almost done with spring Baseball and waiting to get on the erg to race next Febuary at a local race. Hey there Godfried, found a tee shirt for me yet? Lets get going on the meters, Dwayne cannot do it all though he does try. Mikez<br />

It is really too bad because it was fun to see the annual meters competition heat up there at the end of the season.<br /><br />I'm still plugging away at a leisurely 10K most nights, starting slow on each and finishing somewhat less slow. I have signed up for a 100 mile charity bike ride on July 24 so some of my workout time will be devoted to building up mileage on the bike but I think I can keep up the late night slow 10K's as well.<br /><br />Go Taffs! <br />
