Founds a C2 erg at the gym in the hotel I was staying at in Norway so managed a couple of erg sessions after a couple of weeks off. First session felt surprisingly good - 8k at nearly my 30min PB pace so I thought I would try for a 30min PB the next morning. Was aiming for 7800m from previous PB of 7760m but lost it a bit mentally in last 5min so ended up with 7780m. Still quite happy given I thought I would be super unfit after being off the erg for a while. Main thing that probably made up for it was the cool temperature in the Norwegian gym in contrast to my warm, humid Berlin gym. Also the erg itself had barely been used. It sounded lovely to hear a nice fresh erg with no crap music blaring in the background. Hopefully I can get over 7800m in the next few months.
A: 40; H: 184cm; W: 76kg.
PBs: 2k 6:56.9; 6k 22:40.9 (all 2017/2018). 5k 18:28.9; 30min 8,005m; 10k 38:09.8 (2020)

Yeah rowing in the cooler climates is such a welcome. We have been getting cooler days here lately too.

Nice 30' there btw... some times a good break off the erg ain't no bad thing

P.S i also love the sound of a nice healthy erg. WHOOOSHHHH....WHOOOSHHHH...

@DNA_Rower - Congrats on the new PB. Greetings from cold Norway  I have my rower in the basement where it is between 10-15 degrees C all year round, it's a pretty nice temperature to do the rowing.
@bonefixer - Nice LP, I'm a little afraid to try it since my back isn't what it used to be

Start looking around for some racing, you certainly could do well. Around 6.10 not that many 40 years are to be found.

haha, hjs is probably right, training is all over the place but I try to follow Petes plan for 2K. No trainer or coach, it's just me and my erg alone in the basement
Not sure what I will follow after I have completed the current cycle though. I will take a week with a little less volume before deciding.
I have become a member of the SUB7 IRC team and try to use them and this forum as resources as I have no clue on endurance training.

I think you should look around a bit on instagram. The pp is more or less a beginners program, not something that will let you improve in the longer run.
Also think you should look at people at your and beyond level, and those are not here.
Look how guys train around 6.00 ish level.

Very fit fella that.

Some people were simply born to be on these machines.

Ahh cool. The name sounded very familiar to me, from hearing it mentioned around these parts before!

Not fast, but happy, improved my 30 minute row by 138 meters to get 7,455.
Didn't start out to PB but felt pretty good so decided to have a crack.

Knocked 15 seconds off of 2,000 meters to 7:49 on Monday evening.

Might be attending the Norwegian indoor rowing championship early 2018, unfortunately it seems like they are running 1000m in the masters class :x 6:10 is still far away
I will do a test run soon with a pace around 1:34.5/500m for the first 1500m then all in on the last 500m. If I can do the last 500m faster than 1:34.5 pace then my time will be sub 6:18.0, will be very happy if I can manage that.
