We also need to think about the Indoor Rowers league and whether we can launch the High Flyers again - we need ten active participants and at least 8 per month completed
First round starts September 1 - 4 minute (then 1 mile, 6300, 5000, 1 minute, 2k, 10k and 500m)
not sure who is remaining from last year and who is keen to have a go again??

I am letting it go, its to much, goes on for ever. The team effort last year was also, just saying like it is, close to zero. Also more busy with the skierg.
For a team full commitment from everybody is needed. Not easy.

Yes Henry that was my thought too - we weren't able to fill several months last time unfortunately. I will probably have a go each month in the singles though.

Lindsay, I tried to follow thru by doing every month of the IRL but need to be realistic about my lack of ability to make a competitive contribution to team results. Appreciate being given a go but don't wish to re-up for this yr.

no biggies Jack - in the IRL all conttributions are important I think - we just can't expect the 8 needed each month so best to just leave as individuals who want to do it. I like the discipline of forcing a hard TT each month and working it into training patterns.

If indeed trhe emphasis is on participation rather than competition I can get involved - if you're putting a team together.
If not, how to do it as singles?

One thing this month CTC proved, I don't like sprints!

Graham to enter just go the site above and sign up - a little clunky but works OK. Times/distances are adjusted for age/weight group by relating to appropriate WR (there is an explanation) which tends to favour those "of a certain age". Finding 8-10 to commit to monthly entry for 8 months is difficult/impossible so probably best not to start. Individual entry though is not a bad way of forcing training a bit - I will be doing it I hope as I like the discipline of the varying distances and it helps with seasonal rankings

Graham, the IRL is all about participation. It came into being as a replacement for the c2 Challenge Series which died a death about 4 years ago. It would be such a shame if the Flyers were not able to get a team together. A couple of seasons ago we had 2 teams, and the first team, The High Flyers, won. The continuation of this competition will be in jeopardy if the number of participants continues to fall. It would be such a shame as the the creator, and virtually one man band, has put so much time and effort in. Lindsay, Graham, Jack and anyone else aged 60+ (or nearly) are welcome to join the 'Diamonds' team. You can be affiliated to the Flyers for the individual competition, but join (or create) another team for the '8 on 8'.

I am willing to join the High Flyers in the IRL - I'm 99% sure I can commit to the entire competition unless I get hit by a bus
Tried to take a look at their website but I got a bizarre message, something about 'Zoomla' (looks like a website builder so maybe the site is down temporarily); I'll sign up later today when I get to my home computer if it's working.

I just joined the IRL. High Flyers were on the 8on8 team list so I signed up. I'll do it solo if we don't get enough, but hopefully we get a full team!

Hi Lindsay, could you get Jean Gilmore to correct her entry for the July CTC....it's skewed the board somewhat!
67 year old, 72 kilo (159lbs), 5'8''/174cm (always the shortest on the podium!) male. Based just south of London.
Best rows as an over 60. One Hour.....16011 metres. 30 mins.....8215 metres. 100k 7hrs 14 mins.

Ok that is great Chris - lets go forward as High flyers if we can - terry and I are intending to do each month and we will see who else signs up in the next few weeks then review
We have our 10 boats now which is pretty cool - the Rhook family has been busy here in Sydney! Maybe a few more to get to 11???
