I'm not sure. I tend not to periodize my training so will probably be at this (good for me) level for a while so as long as I can practice a different distance and subtley change my training accordingly then a range of goals are in sight. The small amount of 5K training I have done will probably benefit me across a wide range of distances to some degree. Probably set an initial 2K mark somewhere in the upper 6:4x range - that will be a shock to the system! I am convinced my 30min PB can be broken quite easily if I have the courage to leverage near 5K pace and hang on. 10K is a weird one...in theory it should be easy for me but last time I tried it the second half was bad and I finished with 37:29. HM is a soft PB - I know I can get 1:20 fairly easily but 1:19 would look so much better but that will require ALOT more effort.JMac wrote:Well done! What's the next goal?

Updating my PBs to be more current.
5K 19:22.7 (from 19:42.6). Did this a few days back. Pretty solid effort - not a true "digging deep" experience but I think I did good for my level.
500m yesterday 1:30.8 (from 1:33.2 or something) this was a bit disappointing as old best was from when I just started erging. Old PB from Jan 2016. I also failed on last 30 meters. Embarrassingly slowed down and almost stopped on last pulls. Last 100m was 1:35... so bleh. Had sub 1:30 in me but was hoping for an easier 1:29.
Maybe it was not my day - even so road to 1:25 is going to be harder than I hoped for.

Beginner Pete Plan Week 23 10,000m. Pete said to try for a PB so I went for a PB and knocked 25s off to go nicely under 39min: 38:55.4!
Approaching the end of the Beginner Pete Plan and considering trying my second only ever 2k test. The last one was about 6 years ago and was by far the most destroying physical challenge I have ever attempted. I got 7:07 and I had done barely a fraction of the amount of training as I have done this time round (although I had lots of OTW time back then which I don't now).
Like most people at my level I just want to get <7min. Looking at my PBs and logbook, what would anyone guess I might get for a 2k? I remember seeing some kind of 2k predictor on free spirit rowing that still had me over 7min.

Since I managed to improve my 10k quite a bit on Monday I decided to go for a 5k PB today.
Nicely knocked 11s off to pull 18:48.3, which puts me at 79th percentile and makes a a bit more confident for a <7min 2k TT next week.

Did a 2k TT this morning, getting 6:53.3. It's a good feeling to go sub 7, and to firmly beat my twelve year old PB of 7:12.
