What should my 6k goal be?
What should my 6k goal be?
Been doing 4 on/1 min rest x 6 @ 2:03 pace @19spm. What if I did a 6k @ 28spm, continuous/no rest? Since it's higher rate should my split goal be lower? First 6k. 19y, 170lb female. 5'11
Re: What should my 6k goal be?
Your split goal Should be a lot faster from r19 to r28. Depends how strong and fit you are though! you might rate up to r28 and be not much faster at all, and even blow up if you're not used to rating that high.

In your other thread you mentioned your 2k PB was 7:14. Obviously people have different strengths and weaknesses, but even so I'd be surprised if you couldn't pull a sub 24 minute 6k.
When is your 6k test? If it's not soon then I'd suggest doing some 6k rows at a hard (but not all out) pace to get a feel for the distance and build confidence in your target. If you go into it having already rowed, say, a 24 minute 6k then you'll know that you can go faster in the test and you'll do a lot better than if you are overcautious or if you go out too fast and burn out before the end. Ideally, if you've got time, I'd try to do at least two: the first one will probably be paced badly (assuming you've not done any before) but you can use the average to pace the second one better to get a better idea of what you can do.

Yeah I know I should be going sub 24 for 6k based on 2k but I took some time off due to a back injury so I'm not as in shape as I used to be. 6k test is next week

EDIT: I'm an idiot: I just noticed you said your test is next week.
Honestly it's difficult to say based off the information you've given. I think it's fairly safe to say you could do the whole thing at at least 2:03 pace based off your 4min/1r sessions but, as Anth said, it's hard to gauge how much you'll speed up at a higher stroke rate.
