Makes perfect sense to me. Sometimes I might feel a bit weaker after a particularly tough session, for example I might feel like climbing stairs is harder than usual, but I don't think I've ached since shortly after I started erging again (I almost certainly had DOMS the first few sessions).

Thanks for all the replies and inputs - seems like it was a topic that caught some interest! Just to clarify, after going for one of the ranked pieces my legs have felt done in straight after and wobbly on occasion but I've never had the 'have trouble walking normally" feeling the next day. Lots of different opinions above, at the moment I'm thinking that maybe I already have strong legs...! But I'm going to try some of the longer pieces and see what happens!

Individual thresholds of recognition and response to neural stimuli differ. The manifold descriptors (ltired, stiff, sore, painful) are not a simple register of intensity and duration of stimulus (tasking muscle tissue) shared by all. Inuration to repeated stimuli (conditioning) reduces our awareness of discomfort. The ability to suffer without complaint is useful.

My legs don't ache but do get a little sore from a hard workout.

Yesterday was an easy(ish) AM 30min 7280m, R21.

PM was a 5K WU, 2:02 R22 followed by 5x500 with 1 min rest at an average of 148 at R30 and my legs were pretty sore that evening. Definitely felt it. But they still never get to the point of soreness they did when running a lot of miles or even when I was doing a lot of biking.

I very rarely have sore legs from rowing. Do you do much leg exercise apart from rowing, and are you relatively strong? You don't need to be Arnie, but if you're really skinny, that might be an issue.

Also do you think you're using your upper body sufficiently? Sometimes it can be a mistake to think the upper body isn't used much at all.
