Manually Logging Intervals?
Manually Logging Intervals?
Hi All,
I have a question regarding logging intervals into the logbook manually. I've been training the 500m with 1 minute rest interval on the standard workout list but when I go to log this manually I don't see an option for intervals. It just seems to let me log a straight distance only. I noticed if I connect via bluetooth while I'm training it logs it automatically as an interval. I have bluetooth headphones that I like to use while training and I can't be connected to both the machine and headphones at the same time. Is there anything I'm missing? If not could anyone suggest the best way to log my intervals? I know I had read something about flash drives logging the workouts but I wasn't sure. FYI I have a black model d with the PM5 monitor.
Thank you in advance for any help!

Re: Manually Logging Intervals?
There never has been an option for intervals when manually logged - you just have to log each rep as a separate workout. Logging them with a LogCard (PM3/PM4), USB stick (PM5) or Ergdata is the only way.

You have to log it via the text, that way you have the intervals you do in writing.Jweig88 wrote:Hi All,

Re: Manually Logging Intervals?
The simplest way is to use a USB stick to transfer your results with the Concept2 utility. It does throw away "rest" metres, though.....Jweig88 wrote: I have a black model d with the PM5 monitor.

Thanks for the help. I figured USB drive would be the easiest I just wasnt sure as I'm still pretty new to this.

Re: Manually Logging Intervals?
I use ergdata on my iphone, connected to the PM5 using bluetooth, and also connected to my blue tooth headphones all the time. Oh, and a bluetooth HR strap connected to the PM5 as well.
I think it should just work. What's different with your setup?

I'm glad you mentioned this, I tried it and you're right I can connect to both my headphones and the PM5 at the same time. For some reason I was under the impression I could only connect my phone to one bluetooth device at a time. Glad I learned otherwise!gregsmith01748 wrote:I use ergdata on my iphone, connected to the PM5 using bluetooth, and also connected to my blue tooth headphones all the time. I also learned how to use the USB stick to transfer workouts from the PM5 to the online logbook. That's a pretty quick and easy way to upload everything but from what I can tell, if you "move" workouts from the PM5 to the USB drive they're removed from the PM5. Am I missing something again here or is that correct?
Thank you!
Justin
Re: Manually Logging Intervals?
Yes, that is correct. That never bothered me too much because the PM5 has a limited memory and will never be a full record of all of your rows for the lifetime of the machine (or PM5 in my case, because it died).Jweig88 wrote:

Oddly enough, using a laptop with the Concept2 utility to transfer data from the PM5 to my logbook, I see that the rows get left on the PM5. (Why do this, you may well ask? It's because I use RowPro V5 and so my laptop is connected to the PM5 anyway. For some reason, RowPro V5 does not always upload my rows automagically to the online rowing log at digitalrowing.com and thence to the Concept2 logbook - even though I am "rowing online".)
I like ErgData but had a glitch with it which created a doubled up rowing log so no longer use it for uploading results. I really do like the Stroke Length meter, though. Very useful for telling me when I am shortening up because I have lost concentration.

I see these "rest metres" in the spreadsheet. What are rest metres? Is that some distance you coast at the end of the interval?grahamf wrote:The simplest way is to use a USB stick to transfer your results with the Concept2 utility. It's the meters that you paddle during a rest period.slate wrote:I see these "rest metres" in the spreadsheet. What are rest metres? Re: Manually Logging Intervals?
Sorry! It doesn't throw away the rest metres. Nor the warm up warm/down metres. It was RowPro which kept refusing to upload my warm up/down metres to my Concept2 logbook. They were still on the PM5 monitor, though. I've been using my own Custom Intervals to get around that issue for the past year.grahamf wrote:The simplest way is to use a USB stick to transfer your results with the Concept2 utility. Apologies for the mixup. I hope I haven't confused matters too much.
