72 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. I don't even want to think about that for too long.

Blue skies are accompanied by a lot of smoke from forest fires in nearby Summit County. For lots of safety reasons (firefighting personnel, emergency personnel and riders) this has forced the cancellation of a popular annual bike "ride" that was to be held this weekend - it's an epic 122 miler that is called the Triple Bypass. I have drivena sag wagon for this ride - even in July conditions on the mountain passes can range from sleet to snow to too hot to breathe. The three passes (Juniper at 11,140 ft, Loveland at 11,990 ft and Vail at 10,560 ft combine to produce over 10000 ft elevation gain for the riders. Uff da. Loveland Pass is so steep its the only time I ever sagged on Ride the Rockies...and I sagged down the pass! If you ride your brakes, the rims will become so hot that your tires will blow....and I do not enjoy the thrill of the descent! (Naturally I am also the one who volunteers to hold the purses and cameras at theme parks while others live on the edge.)

Many of us have prepared diligently for different events only to see Mother Nature has the upper hand and find that events have to be rescheduled or canceled. Of course, in our gyms and home-based erg usage, we don't usually have to even think about a Challenge being canceled !

Meanwhile, the milestones keep rolling onward ! We're in 8th place overall as a team, but this will change. Tis the season for outdoor exercise, and sometimes you have to choose your season. I fully expect Lunie fever to spread.

MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:

650 K Jane
550 K Ron
150 K Roy
50 K E V

Thanks, everyone, for rowing and ski-erging with us! 82 Lunies have checked in so far for this season!

Steve W 2,000 m
Patrick H 5,000 m ...and only 12,967 m to go to reach TWO million lifetime meters!
Tom M 5,000 m
William H 5,000 m
Teresa G 5,132 m ... welcome back!
Patrick S 5,289 m
David T 6,099 m
Sharon 6,461 m ...welcome back!
David W 10,000 m
Ron 12,221 m ..a palindrome!
Jane 13,331 m ...a palindrome!
Roy 14,000 m
E V 14,583 m
Image Richard T 29,606 m ....he moons us...again!
