Nice! Not sure I could beat that right now. My shorter PBs from 10 years ago are proving stubbornly difficult to beat, the longer ones not so. I think you are the opposite in that, right now, you are relatively stronger at the shorter stuff?

Nice 30' - I couldn't do that far.

I'm stronger overall right now, I'm just working my way up the set pieces. My 6K and 10K PBs will fall in the next few weeks. The 500 I did recently though was relatively easy. Perhaps it was because in 2016 I did a lot of weight training, thereby upping my strength.

I spent 10 years or more trying to get back to where I was, before achieving it in 2015. I plan to keep improving at least until I hit 50.

Not sure about that Paul... When I'm at my fittest the 500m sort of 'is what it is', no muss, no fuss sort of thing. The 1:29 I pulled last time didn't feel very 'hard' even though I was totally anoxic at the end and my fast twitch energy reserves were completely exhausted. I recovered quickly and felt normal within a few minutes -- subjectively it was much easier than say a 5k max effort, which completely sucks for me every time!

To keep on topic, I did a few pace distances in the low 1:50's today. 2K, 3 1k''s and a warm up. Still getting a feel for the 1k distance. The timing of my day was all messed up so just happy to throw something down.
100m: 15.5, 1Min: 353, 500m: 1:29, 5K: 19:41.2, 10K: 40:46

Gave the half marathon a go today for the first time ever. Wasn't really sure what split I was capable of so I went out somewhat conservatively and ended up pacing it quite poorly and not maximizing my speed. Either way, very pleased with the result.

@ArmandoChavezUNC - Impressive numbers! Do not understand how it is possible to sit on that seat for so long

New 5K PB this morning, down from 17:18.2. Could probably have done sub 17 min if done later on the day, not on an empty stomach, and more rest than 12 hours since my last workout.

@Armando - big numbers as always!

@marius - you're in the "honeymoon period" so make the most of it and enjoy....the hard(er) work starts soon ;) Sub17 is surely around the corner, an excellent standard. Well done chap!

@Gammmmo - Thanks! I know the harder work is right around the corner. I doubt I will move any PB that far in the future

@Paul45 -
you mentioned you train at 6.30am in the morning, that's early.
Yes almost all my workouts on the rower is in the morning between 6.00am and 6.30am on empty stomach.
Have you ever rowed before :?: just ask cause your sig says jan 2017 you started, you have
some PB's for someone only rowing 5 months, and your thinking 16.x for 5k.
Not like this, only used it occasionally as warm up for weight training.
Do you do weights, in are you a big guy upper body, or are just someone very talented and
in a year or 2 you could go 15.x for 5k and sub 6' for 2k.
I have been a raw power lifter, but had to retire 6 years ago due to injuries and back problems and have only been lifting feather weights since then. I was hoping to get back as a sprinter on the erg but it seems like my best distances are from 1K(or maybe 2K) and up.
Not sure about 15.x or sub 6' though, I think I need to do more training than I'm comfortable with
Amazing stats and solid 5k.
Thanks :)

I like going in this thread to see what I'm shooting for. And to realize how out of shape I am.

This morning I decided to get my 1K under 4:00. Did 4 warm up runs, 2 -500, 1- 1K and 1- 2K. My plan was to keep going at around 2:00/500m until 250 left and push it. Had a hard time keeping 2:00 pace, got tired and didn't max out until 100m left and squeezed out a 3:59.7. Still got a way to go to getting more respectable times, but enjoying the journey.

@Armando - 'kinell - that is all :D
@Marius - impressive. 5K at my 2K pace - how do people do that!
@Cabby - nice PB. I started out the same, many years ago, aiming for 2:00 pace over increasing distances (took me until last year to do the HM @2:00)

And I just knocked off my 6K PB - I only ever do PBs at this distance, basically if I set a 5K and a 30min, which are regular pieces for me, I do the 6K just for the sake of completeness. 22:14.0, 1:51.1 @ 27. 1000m splits:

1:51.3 @ 27
1:51.3 @ 27
1:51.3 @ 28
1:51.9 @ 27
1:52.6 @ 27
1:48.4 @ 29

Probably won't do it again for a while. 10K is next on the PB agenda!

Wow!
What an excellent time, and now that you have an idea about what it takes you, I expect you will do it a fair bit faster the next time.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement.

Crazy to think the world record is a 1:36.6 split! That crazy Eric Murray.

Armando - that's a crazy great time for a half marathon! I know from your posts you put a lot of work into getting there.

Marius - amazing 5K. I've been following your progress on the PP thread. Your cardio is better than you think. Amazing potential! Powerlifting may not be your sport after all!

Bonefixer - nice work on the 6K. Your times across the board are all fantastic.

Cabby - they are all PBs. Enjoy them early. They come harder the more experienced you get. Personally, I can't keep up with any of these guys but I just love indoor rowing. To me, getting to different levels of fitness is rewarding, even if I'll never be the fastest guy out there.

Managed to get my 500m PB down to 1:24.1 :D

Will try and go sub-7 for 2k after I finish my first cycle of Pete plan.

1:24 is monster! Wish I could do that. If sub-7 isn't on right now, it won't take long. With your stats you'll be 6:30 before long.
