Five days away!
Palindromes, milestones, half moons! We've got a little bit of everything - which is true of the team in general ! Meanwhile, on the local front, the daily (hourly?) squirrel vs dog fest continues until one or the other is tired of it. Then it resumes after a time out.

How many will complete this Challenge?? Better yet...will YOU be one of them?!
Didn't intend to take a day off from posting yesterday - yet clearly that is what happened. For the past four years, Bike Jeffco has been a beneficiary of the Denver Century Ride - a cycle the city urban-suburban-into the mountains route that gives people an opportunity to do 25, 50, 85 or 100 mile routes. We've manned the Water Stop at the Wooly Mammoth parking area at the gateway to the Rockies for the last two years. This stop is about 32 miles into the 85 or 100 mile route (and for a couple of 50 mile riders who missed a key turn). The first riders, beasties, were rolling in at 6:45 AM...I'd barely had time to mix up the Pep Pod energy drink! We were the last water stop before these riders would climb another 1400 feet in six miles. We had good cloud cover and wonderful riding temperatures - unlike the previous year where temperatures had soared to 95 degrees early in the day. It was a bit breezy, and the canopy of the tent threatened to become airborne a couple of times. Note that we had to be a bit creative about securing a weight to the top of the tent....I thought we needed a bicycle (instead of a ship) inside the bottle. (The small, colorful "blobs" on the table are neon bicycle pins.) It's a lot of work and a lot of fun to do a support function on a ride like this. Great to get a perspective from the other side of the bike so to speak. I am sure that I lifted at least half a ton of water yesterday....and there was definitely DMS...delayed muscle soreness!
Meanwhile, you rowed and ski-erged onward towards your goals!
MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:
1.45 MM Ed

m ...lucky 7 palindrome to the sixth degree! (I'll see your 4's and raise you!) Richard T
500 K David A...another cool half million!
450 K Jane
300 K Tombeur
200 K Larry
200 K David T
50 K David W
Thanks, everyone, for rowing and ski-erging with us...and creating palindromes, supporting teammates, sharing stories and goals.
Janice 2,000 m
Tony 2,222 m ...a twosie palindrome that tells me I missed a day!
Heather 2,694 m
Rebecca 3,333 m ...a threesie palindrome!
Dan O' 4,276 m
Patrick S 5,010 m
Jeff D 5,050 m...a double double with even chances!
Trista 5,966 m
Larry 6,000 m
Norma 7,777 m ...a lucky 7 palindrome!
Ian 9,004 m
David W 9,268 m
Louis 10,000 m
Ron 12,121 m ...a dozensie palindrome!
Tombeur 14,652 m
David A 14,958 m
David T 15,000 m
Kevin 18,559 m
Jane 22,322 m ....a palindrome...and she moons us! Cumulative moons count.
Steve W 32,377 m ...he moons us!
Richard T 40,393 m ...shooting the moon was in the cards!
Ed 52,196 m ....uff da. Lotta meters...a full moon plus some!
The lawnmowers were out at Standley Lake Regional Wildlife Refuge (it used to be just a park, but now it has a better designation for funding
- and is home to several pairs of bald eagles and a water supply)....so MANY mowers, and one goat keeper!

We always have to stop and visit. And test the electric fence. (Well, I test the electric fence. The grands are smarter than that, and believe the sign.)

Speed posting! And how 'bout those Colorado Rockies?!! When your favorite player hits for his first career cycle (single, double, triple, and a homer), and the homer gives your team a walkoff win....well, it just doesn't get any better than that. I love baseball.
And, hope all you Dads enjoyed your day!

The energy drink was something called Pep Pods - tablets that contained caffeine and electrolytes and we had to dissolve them in five gallons of water...1 tablet per 8 oz....this required math...hahahaha. Last year we had to open individual packets ... it was amazing how long that took. This year, we had tubes of 10. The reviews were mixed on the concoction, but it seemed popular enough that people coming back through on the way back, did get more of it.
