Hi Martin!

I'm glad to hear I can finally catch up to you....I planned to have Christmas Eve (and a few days after that) off from rowing and still make the Challenge so I'm must making it.
I'll be back from my mom's on the 28th and can then commence rowing again. I'm looking forward to a break and then back to less intense schedule, row two days, take one off. This Holiday challenge has really showed me that I need that recovery time to be able to PB. Daily rowing is making my legs feel like rubber reinforced concrete and each day's row harder and slower, it seems!

I'm doing the occasional 20 spm piece for variety, and it was inspired by Carole's mentioning it. I actually enjoy it, if feels good to me, I like it slow. I'm trying to see if I can match my old 30 min PB at the slower rate.

I agree with you about the Taff "uniform" I'd much rather have a T shirt--several of them--I don't think the one piece outfit will really work for me, and even if I race I don't think I'd feel comfortable in that. I'm really long in the torso and it's a rare one piece anything that works.

Carla

Hiya Guys/Gals,
Still having computer glitch New one arrived set up and awaiting dsl but that will not happen till next week. Work is better back to erg watch out Godfried, daren C, and quiet Jasmine, as I shall be going at it with a vengence, and the will to lose more pounds(weight type)
Was informed by another teammate that Holiday challenge shirts are not available outside USA. I was told by Concept 2 that youcan use an american address and order the shirts, then it will be shipped to that address and forwarded onwards. So in the spirit of teamship Please contact me at my mail address I will forward on shirts to all taff's
And since Sir Pirate is on this thread more then his rower I will also forward for him and of course my workmate Carol Mac
Mike jr has 65K and moving on he is ready to spring his meters on MIT as soon as we get closer, let s go Taffs.
Carla he claims to know how to do it with the finger and with an open string five songs so far, he has decided to pratice while I row and then he will row, good god I have created an erg monster.
Mike

I've got 7,700m to go. Got a phone call last week from the Communications Manager in work who asked if I'd be interested in completing the challenge live on TV . Being the shy, retiring type I said I'd be up for it so I've had to go on a "Go Slow" and just keep the metres ticking down as I'm waiting for confirmation of the date. I've asked if it can be before Christmas as I don't want to drag it out too long (it's already very frustrating limiting my sessions to 7-8K; today will be 5K).

Through work, they've also arranged some a news item in the local paper (the South Wales Echo) for which I had my photo taken last week for the story (see below):

At my gym they've just replaced all the Model Cs with Model Ds so I'm getting used to the new features (quite like the power curve display at the moment!). Have really struggled this week to do any decent sessions so think I must be coming down with something (I'm the only one in my family who hasn't been hit by a bug that's doing the rounds); wouldn't think for a second it could be anything to do with my ability .

Last but certainly not least, a big welcome to yet another Redmond family member (how big is Chippy's family ?). As Martin quite rightly says, if Bernard is anything like Chippy in the competitiveness department, I see interesting times ahead.

Great photo Niall - looks like plenty of power in that frame of yours ready to be unleashed on that poor erg.

Hope you are right with the pre Christmas TV timetable else you may well be doing 1K sessions at super slo-mo pace just to fill in the time Carole Mac's charity website worked a treat - definately the way to go if Sophie's qualifies and it could be worked into the script ?

Keep healthy Mr Megastar, a fluey appearance is not a good look on TV

Martin
