Absolutely delighted today, I did my first 60min+ row when I did the Half marathon. I was aiming for 1 hour 40 ish but managed to pull in a 1 hour 34.17, nowhere near as quick as most of you guys but delighted nonetheless!!! Plus I go to 203,000 in the holiday challenge !!!

Godfried,

How was EIRC? Saw your time was 7:14.8, a few seconds outside your PB. How were the conditions? Was this your first indoor rowing competition?

So many questions...

Great first up HM time Warnie - about 2:14 pace if I'm not mistaken. Confidence gained from doing that distance at such a good pace will carry over to the shorter distances when you decide to PB them next. Maybe we can have an erg session when you are out here.

Hope Pakistan batting gains the same degree of confidence in their 2nd innings to at least make it a 5 dayer and give them impetus for the 2 tests you are flying out to see.

Keep on PB'ing

Martin

PS Apologies for 'cricket talk' Niall

Progress on 30 min 20 spm piece

Last time I tried this, I ended up averaging 21 spm, not 20, and got 7037 m., which comes out to 11.16 MPS. This time I got into the rythm of it much better, averaged 20 spm, and ended up with 7087--that's getting closer to my target of 12 MPS on this piece (it's 11.8, I think). If I can get it to 12 I'll get around as many meters as I do at my PB, which was around 10 MPS.

The trick is to keep the spm at 20 by pulling every 3 seconds, while also pulling on 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. Once in a while I would screw up and it would change to 1, 3, 5, 6 oops 8, 0, 2, 3 oops 5.....

It certainly distracts you from being tired, watching all the numbers!

Only about 40K to go to finish the Holiday Challenge!

Carla

Great job on your first HM and over 60 minute row, Warnie! It feels great to reach those milestones along the way to total erging insanity....watch out, it's a slippery slope!

Hi Chippy,
Great news on your HM PB!! Now what are you going to do with those 2 minutes you saved!!!!

Carla

Nice rowing Carla. I'll only do one more row on Wesnesday before Christmas break so your 40K will not only snare the 200K Challenge but get us back together ready for the final push towards the 1 Million for the season. So many Taff already past 1 Million makes one keen to join them. Any particular reason for 30 mins at 20 SPM - I see team Oarsome are doing it as a challenge, are you keeping an eye on Carole ?

Great HM Chippy, looks like you are blowing away your PB's at both ends of the spectrum. And keeping Chris nicely in sight for a HM 'challenge' too.

Thoughts for T shirt or something similar for those Taffs and Taff mates who are not likely to need the racing version as they aren't entering comps - like me. Predominately Green top third, White middle section and Red bottom with TA logo on front/back flanked by TAFF ATTACK in white middle third ?? Saw a cyclist the other day with that style of top - looked pretty eyecatching/cool. Green and Red parts seemed to 'merge' into the white middle using a fancy pattern rather that a plain straight horizontal line.

Martin
