Must be some unique search engines that go with this train car....but what a different sort of infrastructure! You'd think that with the equipment it took to put the railcar into place, that something a little less teetery looking could be constructed...there's a story there...

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 4.26.17

Post by Kona2 » April 27th, 2017, 9:41 am

"Never give up! Never surrender!" Galaxy Quest lives on with all of us...or as the tagline would go...the show may be canceled, but the adventure lives on!

And so we head into the final three days of the Concept2 2017 Erging season with at least SIX of our teammates striving for an elusive milestone. The crescendo of team encouragement is growing in support of our fellow Lunies!

There may be MORE Lunies who are heading for the shimmering tape of their end of year milestone, but these six are in our view at the moment!

danwho with (5,298 m) to go for TWO million!
Dan O' with (13,574 m) to go for TWO million!
bg with (57,181 m) to go for TWO million!
Cheryl with (27,215 m) to go for ONE million!
Larry with (46,032 m) to go for ONE million!
Mark with (66,226 m) to go for ONE million!

Meanwhile, just a few days ago, the route for the 2017 Pedal the Plains three day ride was announced. This year's small town eastern Colorado ride goes through the towns of Kersey, Keenesburg, and Brush....with the theme of "Saddle Up! It's going to be a wild ride." Lions, tigers and bears....and they're ALL in Keenesburg at the Wild Animal Sanctuary. Yikes. Last year it was the Great Tarantula Migration down by the Comanche National Grasslands, and this year it's large, fast animals with big teeth. Incentive to ride faster! Here's a YouTube of the Santa Barbara version of the tarantula migration...and btw, the migration was NOT noted in our Rider Almanac as something to watch for....surprise! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltMwVKQapqM

Thankwho for the 2MM shoutout!! I was trying to research this train car bridge a little. The Tardis just might come in handy. Initially I only selected the picture because it seemed to go well with Jane's train theme, and the with the idea of crossing over a milestone. But you're right... there seems to be a story here. I don't know a lot, but here is what I know. For one thing, it's not in India. That was a lie. It's in the country of Georgia, near its border with Armenia. Some call it the train carriage bridge of Ninotsminda (although it's outside of Ninotsminda). But, of course, the real (rail) question is why. And I couldn't find a reason to select an old rail car to go across that stream. But during my reading, I saw mention of a number of must-see bridges in Georgia (this being one), so it's possible it only exists as a novelty. As you will notice in this link, http://babakoto.eu/Weblogs/2014/04/Firs ... nglish.htm, tourism in the area is thriving. I also saw more than one person mention seeing this bridge while on a cycling trip, so maybe after Pedal the Plains, you might want to sign up for Aching for Armenia.

Please do... I never took notice before that you can take advantage of the number in your name to make an extended sequence or pailindrome. So K2 3,456, or K2 13312, Now I want a number.
