Re: Forum Flyers
Been quiet the past week, had a bit of a head cold. Did a trial run 500m today, not feeling 100%, went out at 1m35's and ended up 1m 33.6. Will try to get under 1m30 next couple of weeks. Got 4 days off soon so will give the challenge one more go.

Re: Forum Flyers
Well done Allan - don't think I could get under 1:30 at the moment for some reason but will probably have another go at the challenge as well.
Strong one for new member Siebe today - he is fast!

Yep, Siebe contacted me and asked to join us. He is very welcome ofcourse. He rowed a very strong 777 piece. Wil ask him to introduce himself a bit. He is a strong guy in the 50+ cat. and ambitious.lindsayh wrote:Well done Allan - don't think I could get under 1:30 at the moment for some reason but will probably have another go at the challenge as well.

As Henry stated, I'm rather new to rowing and a training-partner made me interested in http://c2ctc.com/ .
I'm 53 years old and started erging in januari last year. As I started to committing my performances to the log site and saw how I ranked, I got more and more ambitious. To be honest, I have never been this focused to achieve sport-goals before. Okay, okay, I once drove out with my car to the cycling-track where the next day a time-trial took place, to clean the corners, so I could keep speed, but that was an incident;-).
And since it's already in the open: my goal is to be faster then 6:12.7 on the 2k in 2 years when I am 55. That would be a new WR... No idea if it is possible and if I can keep the commitment. Will see.
I wish everybody well!

Welcome, Siebe. I have seen your training reports for several months in the forum. Definitely a genuine powerhouse!

Welcome in the team Siebe. Will be interesting to see if you will manage the goal you set for yourself. Based on the times you already logged and ranked I think It can be done.

Re: Forum Flyers
Felt good so thought I'd give the challenge another go, bailed with 220m to go in 777m, swallowed, went down the wrong way and got the coughs and splutters. I was heading for a good time, 31.0/31.2/31.4/ sitting on 1m41-1.42 pace for 777m. Never mind still got a few more days.

Did tye ctc today. Not in the mood to do so, but he..
First though, got myself a skierg last week and got t know that a bit. Very different from rowing. Upperbody work, lats, abs, triceps do the work. Although you do squat and bend over, so the recovery is legsback. So pulling pushing from the legs/back is not there.
Drag on my machine goes from 56 to 169. Used 80 ish, rating is also higher. Tried a few things, lowpull 1.26 5k test 158.7 500 137.8 so a good bit slower than rowing. Think that is normal for most, although some are also very fast on the skier.
Rowing.
Feels wierd after the skier, higher drag, used 125, and you feel the pressure on the back/legs. Also squated yesterday.
Ctc 3x177 777 3x177 drag 125 free rate. Rest 1 min, and 2 after the 777.
1 124.4/36
2 124.7/36
3 124.1/36
4 133.8/31 bleh, very nasty this. From first to last meter.
5 125.3/38
6 124.4/38
7 123.0/41
1839 128.3/36 not super, but has to do.
Start was pulling on the 3 and 1, so bit of a running start.

A well, if you think te ski erg does not use te legs, you will get a cold shower if you try one

Re: Forum Flyers
It depends a bit which technique you use, but the legs are not the primary movers, you drop your weight and pull the handle down. From there you squat up. And ofcourse early days, so can,t give a full review yet. In a month orso I will probably know a bit more.jackarabit wrote:Henry, on 19 March 2016, 5:17AM, you wrote (viewtopic.php?f=29&t=75382&hilit=Ski+er ... &start=165):

Felt musclepain in the abs, triceps and high midback. Overall tiredness is less compared to erging, but thats because at this point I can,t use my full potential, limiting factor is not being specificly trained, musclewise.

Nice one Henry. Yep, the 777m gets ugly and you need more than 2 min to feel positive about the next 177m.
